I have a 2004 Dodge Ram cummins.  It has turbo back 5" magnoflow exguast on it.  AN Airad cold air intake and an edge on it.  I did all this because people told me it would make you mileage better.  What should my truck get on mileage.  Is there anything i can do to make it better.

I had an 05 cummins with 42,000 miles on it and it got 18mpg at 70 mph with the first engine.  The second engine with 15,000 miles on it got 13mpg at 70 mph.  The dealer told me you could take two exact pickups and one will get decent mileage and the other will get shitty mileage.

I have an 05 dodge 4 door 4wd with the 6 speed, it has stock wheels and tires(for now) and a silverline 4 inch exhaust and a k&n air intake and im pretty positive the previous owner upgraded the injectors but im not sure what kind or how big, and i recently took a road trip to see my grandfather and its about 7 1/2 to 8 hours to central florida from here in north georgia, almost in south carolina, and i averaged 24.5 mpg at 65-68 mph on cruise, occasionally going to 70 when my brother complained about the speed. Driving style is the biggest factor so far. I got that good mpg driving like a grandma, but all i had to do was push the pedal a little harder and run about 75, and it would drop to under 20, and i was in a hurry to get to bass pro shops before they closed, which is about 45 miles away, and at 80 mph it took almost a half a tank! But it was worth it, i mean, come on, its Bass Pro Shops! Also, when you are on the interstate, if you just barely puch the pedal just barely and let the turbo spool with as little fuel as possible, and that is how you keep it up there, if you even barely touch the gas too hard it goes down. Ill admit i rarely get this kinda mileage, but who drives like a grandma all the time, other than a grandma.

You've got problems somewhere if the overhead is only reading 11-mpg. Those things are usually a bit optimistic anyway and in reality you could be down below 10. You really need to hand calculate the mileage to be sure. How many miles are you getting to a tank of fuel?

Not to make you feel any worse, but my truck listed below (minus the turbo upgrade) averaged 12.9-mpg, hand calculated, pulling my 8000lb x 12.5 foot high 5th wheel camper on a 4800 mile round trip from Ohio, to the Grand Canyon, to Yellowstone, back to Ohio. Unloaded, your truck should be getting close to double the fuel mileage you are reporting.

I-6 Cummins guys are keepin' it straight. Those other boys swing both ways.

Yeah, you should be getting better than 11 mpg unloaded. Let us know what you find out.

the dealer will not look into minner tranny issues . pump could be going out. talk to a tranny shop that deals in diesel trucks . they should know every thing. but it wouldn't be covered by warenty
