i have a 99 dodge and i was driving it today and it just killed on me and it happened twice yesterday. today i tried to start it back up and it wouldnt start. i sprayed some starting fluid(ether) and then it started but ran for a couple seconds. so we know it isnt getting fuel. would anyone know if my pump is bad but has been recentally replaced. or if the fuel filter is bad and we are going to change 2 morro. if anyone could help i need it real bad thanks alot. if the filter was clogged would it still run good yesterday and just shut off and startright back up yesterday. but today it didnt start after it killed. today i drove it for about a minute then it shut off. thanks alot i need the help. sorry for it being so long

what is your fuel pressure gauge reading? depending where your gauge is at you should be getting a reading after it passes the filter (atleast mine is reading pressure just before it hits the injector pump). should give you a good idea what might be happening.

like ive been telling you, get rid of that factory pump, go with a fass, they are well worth the 400 bucks. mine did the exact same thing before i got my fass, once i got it, it never has done it again, that was 150k miles ago

The FASS only ensures the injection pump has all the fuel it ever needs for a given situation, be it mall cruisin or sled pulling. The fuel the engine doesn't need is recirculated back to the fuel tank.

right, like said above, you wont actually burn 90 gph, thats just the flow rating of the pump through the fuel line if needed, if it doesnt need it, the fuel returns to the tank, the nice part is that the extra fuel helps to cool the inside of the VP44 injection pump, thus increasing its life. a better lift pump will increase the life of your VP44 injection pump. heck my truck as its set up and power its making, im still getting an average of 19.4 mpg

plus, youll never burn anywhere near 90 gph, ever, even at wide open throttle.

the air leak could be anywhere, id start by checking the boots on the intercooler, they could be cracked, then check the intercooler to see if its leaking, then check your manifold gasket to ensure its is not dryrotted and cracked. of course check the are where your gauge is tapped into the manifold to snure it doesnt leak. then check the air tube for the guage to sure it hasnt melted it gotten cut somehow.
as for the injection pump, just get a stock replacement, theres really no aftermarket subsitute.

ok First of all an air leak would not cause your truck to not start. However 13 Psi is a lot lower than you should be running with that chip. You should be able to pull about 28 Psi out of it. Are you sure the elbow is adjusted correctly? You would have to adjust the elbow so that it restricts the flow through it to get more boost out of your turbo. Other wise look where Dukeboy suggested.
Now for the truck dying problem. What is your fuel pressure? where do you tap off for fuel pressure? When you turn the key on can you hear the fuel pump run? Does it build pressure after you turn the key on? If you bump the starter(turn the key to the start position and quickly let go. Not long enough to start the engine just long enough to hear starter engage) does it build pressure? Do you have a Check Engine light? Have you taken it to an auto parts store to have any codes read?(usually free) Sometimes the engine will throw a code without the Check Engine Light coming on.
As for fuel pumps if it turns out you need one, Fass and Airdog both make good pumps for 400+ bucks. A Walbro with a bypass regulater will cost about 150-180 but you have to do some plumbing. or Airtex makes a stock replacment for 200 that you can buy at carquest. I have one and its lasted for 7 months and more than 20,000Mi.
By the symptoms it doesn't sound good for your injection pump. For a replacement, Bluementhal builds a pretty good stock replacement. Or you could call Industrial Injection and get a Hot Rod VP44 for a little more performance. M and J Tool and Fab also makes a Monster Vp44 thats supposed to be pretty wicked.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT get a monster or hotrod, youll kill those pumps without running big injectors, heck for the monster, 150 hp injectors arent even big enough, those pumps are for straight up racing/pulling trucks or for high hp trucks. like I a said a stock replacement VP44 will be fine. if you want pm me, i know where we can get you one for around 1000 bucks, which is way cheaper then going through dodge. either way get you a FASS or AIRDOG, steer clear of anything else, the walbros were good pumps, but they do not run for long on ULSD, which at the end of this year will be all you can buy for street use. Heck, walbro even voids the warranty on them if you run ULSD in them, plus good luck finding someone thatll sell parts for them if they break.
