Sorry the last artical I read said the HP ratings were thought to be 350 for Ford and Dodge and for GM at 360. I'll try not to make such a massive blunder next time!

No massive blunder, all I was saying is, all the HP #'s are only rated #'s. I think they all over rate them and the only true way to tell is a dyno to all the big 3 right off the show floor. That would be a good tech article for the mag. No big deal though.

I agree 100%. I would like to see all three of the ultra-low sulphur diesel trucks bone stock in auto and manual on the dyno.

Off the topic: I cranked the torsion bars. I work at a shop and have installed the torsion keys and they don't make the ride any better then just turning the bars.

We can't tease Stroker Smoker for his well thought out comment. He just dosen't have the time to write a interesting or imformative blog because he spends most of his day changing out that bad injector, glow plug, glow plug timer, cam senser....oh ok you get picture. lol

5.7,6.2, and 6.5 was another one of GM's jokes. If you had a good 6.2 or 6.5 you didn't have anything. I know from personal experence the 6.5 wouldn't run more than 100,000 or 125,000 miles without cracking a head. They also had fuel pump problems in '93 and '94. I guess GM finally got a desent diesel with the diapper-max, but who wants an Isuzi???? Another thing the duramax is the fastest on the dragstrip, but the heavier you load it the further back it fall behide. that is known here around the mountains with everyday 25,000lbs gross.

There are a lot of 11 sec(and getting into the 10s) diesels on the dragstrip, so I wouldn't go as far as to say D-MAX is the fastest. Clint Cannon's ATS D-MAX is a rocket but look at the work they put into that motor nothing was left stock! The average Joe could never afford it. Diesel Power mag used a Cummins for project X because you can get big power for less $$ on a stock bottom end. My friends D-MAX HAS A 5 stage chip and he can flatout kill my Cummins off the lights(empty) but up in the the mountains, loaded up my 6 spd ISB out pulls that D-MAX everytime. That reprogramer sends his EGT's off the scale and puts the trans into limp mode if it downshifts while pulling a load.

It's funny how people just like to complain about change. There was nothing great about the 7.3, been there done that. And owners of chebby's and dodgy's bashing the 6.0 when they have no experience with it. The 6.0 had some initial problems that were non existent by 05. And they would walk away from the other two makers for those years too. With none or equal mods of course. Yes you can get a pretty quick car if you by a Dmax, but it is a car. With Dodgey you get a good foundation for buildable power, but how many need that excess....If your not racing most people just add a programmer. And the rest of those trucks are disposable. Rattle boxes that fall apart( and the worst looking unless you like bloated walrus's). Ford is clearly the best looking and toughest looking truck on the road. You can argue but you are wrong. The 6.0 since 05 is no less reliable than any other maker. This new emissions stuff is still in testing so we will see what happens. They all have they're faults but Ford has the best total package.
