Find a dealer that's going to work with you. This way, if they try to pull the "voided warranty" routine with you, you've got records showing THEY put it on. However if they do work with you, then there's a really good chance you won't get the run-around.
My personal preference for air filters is anything not oiled but with good filtration. The oil does get sucked in and will accumulate on your turbo over time. This is where the stealership will step in and say "turbo failure caused by oil from aftermarket air filter" and they'll screw you over for everything at that point.
I had an AEM Brute Force HD intake with dry filter on my '03 and plan on getting them for my '06 and my '08. They filter 99.4% or better and still allow almost double the flow rate of a stock filter. Remember, diesels are giant air pumps .... the easier the air gets in and out, the less power is stolen from moving that air. And I don't get that nasty oil on my turbine compressor.
For added power, get the Smarty. The stealership can't detect it (unless you leave it on) and it takes less than 5 minutes to take a program off or put it on. And if you do opt for the Smarty, don't get crazy with it as its meant to give you a decent increase without killing your hardware.
