Im new so please go easy on me guys. I just got a 04 Ram 2500 Cummins of course. I strait piped the exhaust and put an Edge juice attitude on it. Now it seems to over rev. At take of its amazing but then revs up to about 3350 and losses all its power. I would appreciate any tips Thanks

Another thing what would you consider a good max rpm. I dont want to hurt anything because its my daily driver.

If you're used to a gasser, the power curve on a diesel is much different. All the power is in the midrange. There's really no use over-revving a diesel.

I did have a gaser, but never again lol. I would like to keep the rpm at about 2600 to 2900 max, but it seems my tranny wont shift until 3350 when im wide open. The stock setting on the Edge seems to shift at 3000 which is ok. Im kinda unsatisfied that you cant set shift points with the Edge chip. Anyone know about playing with shift points; is it possible? Thanks

I would also appreciate advise on mods. What is the best bang for your buck injectors? would that affect the edge?

Well My engine is a coupler years older than yours so there might be some small differences. Stock redline under load is 3200Rpm. Now the High Idle is 3500. The manufacturer calls high idle the highest rpm the engine will rev to with no load on it.(Such as you floor it in neutral) Now Max Horsepower on my engine is developed at 2700RPM. But power after that drops off pretty sharp. so there really is no point in staying up there. I really don't see anything wrong with your engine reving to 3350. I wouldn't spend a whole lot of time there but it won't hurt it to shift there. Its been proven that 1700-2000 RPM is the most efficient range to operate that engine. You'll generally get your best fuel mileage staying in this range. Ask 20 different people and you'll get 20 different answers to your last question. My next step would be an upgraded Air Intake system. For Injectors I'd prefer F1 Diesel. They will be a little more expensive but they will run cooler and less smokey than most other brands. DDP would be another good brand. Course now it's time to watch your tranny grenade. I would probably uprgrade your tranny even before you added injectors. Goerends or DTT would be my personal choices. Throw a turbo and a set of head studs in their somewhere and your off to the races!

Ya, i noticed its max power is at about 2700. I think it might be to much boost that is making it over rev 42psi. Then when i set the edge to defuel at 36psi it seems like it wants more boost. As for my tranny it seems to not like the highest setting It will start slipping if i run it to hard. Would upgrading it be cheaper now or later when it is no longer whole lol

Might be the same. Might be more. It definetly won't be cheaper. Preventative maint. is always cost effective. and you never know what other parts will be damaged when the tranny gives up.
I cheated. All I have to do is buy a good clutch and I'm ready to go :P

I think its mainly my driving. I guess in my truck you cant just hold it to the floor. 80% throttle seems to be the best. I so happy yesterday i roasted a duramax and a denali at the same time. I am a very pround cummins owner.

Did you install a better air filter to better help air flow. And does your truck have guages? If not,i would really recomend it.From what i just read you are most likely making your e.g.t's sky rocket which isn't good for the engine.

It's certainly not over revved at 3250, but the valves will start to float about 3600. Try setting it to defuel at 38 pounds of boost. As already mentioned, trans mods will greatly improve performance & mpg. I think the Smarty controller will allow setting shift points.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CHECKED THE AIR FILTER AND TOOK OFF THE INLET TUBE AND INSPECTED THE TURBO? I HAD ONE THAT WAS ALL OVER THE CHARTS, AND IT WAS RELATED TO TURBO FAILURE. YOU WOULD BE LOOKING FOR OIL IN/ON THE INTAKE SIDE, OR PHSICAL DAMAGE TO THE FINS. NOT INTENDING ON SCARING YOU, BUT IF THE TURBO IS FAILING, IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.

ONE MORE THING (NOT PARTICULARLY RELATED) THAT PARTICULAR MODEL HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE TRANSFER PUMP (LIFT PUMP). IS IS LOCATED ON THE BACK OF THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING. THERE IS A KIT THAT ELIMINATES THE LOCATION OF THE LIFT PUMP, AND PUTS A COMPLETELY NEW FUEL PUMP IN THE FUEL TANK. POOR DESIGN!!! IN ALL THEIR INFINITE WISDOM, THEY DECIDE TO PUT A HEAT-SENSITIVE ELECTRIC PUMP RIGHT NEXT THE THE ENGINE. THE FUEL CAN ALSO COOL THE PUMP, NOW THAT IT IS LOCATED IN THE TANK.
