my question is what type of internals does the 7.3L have? regarding the lates model of the 7.3L, because i have the 2002 7.3L which i bealive is the last year ford come out with the 7.3L

if im not mistaken the 99-01 MY engines had stronger internals than the 02-03 (didnt they make the 7.3 for a short time in 03?)

I think most of the difference between the earlier and later 7.3 Power Strokes was in the engine management, and possibly the turbo. In terms of the pistons, heads, etc, I don't know if there's that much of a difference between the earlier and later models.

i dont believe that they changed for the later models but im not sure. i do know that the rods in them are massive ive only heard of one 7.3 ever throwing a rod and that was a faulty rod. so if i were you i would not really worry about it unless your planning on making 500+ hp and even then you would probably be safe

i know the early 99-03 psd's rods can handle up to 600 hp the later ones were rated for around 400 hp...i think it changed in 2001 or 2002
