I am trying to find any info on what it would take to put a duramax lly engine into a 1989 1 ton chevy 4x4, mostly about the wiring (computer) (sensors) ect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, ironically, it might be easier to do the Cummins swap, because of electronics issues.

I agree a cummins is the backup plan & and it looks alot easier. The problem is the truck isn't mine and the owner would like to try and make the duramax work. It should be interesting. Im hoping to figure out just what its going to take to do this project before he buys the motor. It comes with the allison trans. and the transfer case, and i believe the (ecm) is there however im not sure about the (tcm). Honestly im not even 100% sure what im looking for on the electronics dept to say if its all there. Anyone who might know what im looking for in the electronics to make this thing live i would really appreciate the input. thanks

If you have a complete donor vehicle, that's always the easiest route, but where there's a will (and a budget) there's a way. Good luck. Anyone else have any insight or thoughts? Thanks.
