I just purchased a 2003 F250 6.0 PS w/66000 miles. Thinking of adding Banks Stinger system to start, then the Fitch Fuel Catalyst. Also looking for a good Diesel shop around Atlantic County, NJ. I tow a 27' fifth wheel camper so I'm looking for MPG increase and towing performance. I read a lot in the forums, there a lot out here to absorb. It seems likes this was the right place to get lead in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any hints and guidance

just from my experience with banks id stay away from them they are way over priced. the only thing i would recomend from banks is the techni-cooler and boost tubes. use a cfm+ largemouth intake. look at a 4" MBRP SS turbo back ex. an AFE dry air intake, with a edge programer. you will save a lot of money. as apposed to going with banks dont get me wrong they make good product and the have a lot of safeties. they are just a little to PROUD of there stuff. you also might want to think about a set of headstuds as well. because once you start running some extra horses through it the stock headbolts will stretch causing bad bad things. one more thing you might want to look at is a new up pipe from elitedieseleng.com. to bypass the egr cooler. it will also help keep coolant temps down thus making the life of your heads longer. that will help out with your mileage quite a bit. and if you have a garage and a decent amount of tools and some mechanical knowledge you can do almost everything yourself. with the exception of the headstuds...

Mechanical background I haev, just not with diesels. Garage I don't have, I'm a shade tree mechanic. The other issue is taking a trip thru Va and NC in 2 weeks so it's hard to find alot of time to do all the work but was hoping to boost MPG before leaving. Figured intake and exhaust I could handle in drive way and same for the programmer. What is the up pipe and is it an easy change out?

ive heard the up-pipe is a headache and a half to change but i dont know, but doing an exhaust intake and programmer will help alot for now. once you get bit with the diesel power bug you will love it.

#1 single thing that will improve fuel economy? Drive slower. I get 19mpg at 75mph and 23mpg at 65mph. Who knows what I would get at 55mph if I could do it. A programmer with lots of timing will help, I think a few manufacturers are going to come out with economy tunes soon.

drive slower keep tires air up, lose any extra weight you got in the bed like old parts, beer cans haha. i ditched the big metal tool box i had in my cummins for a small plastic one, lighter and holds less crap.

AFE seems to have a lot of intakes to choose from but hard to compare. Going to drop them a line but any ideas out here for the best choice for towing a camper and maintaining or improving MPG. Doing alot of reading and getting excellent info from the various forums. Thanks for the guidance so far.

They do on gas a random big rig stops roadside but don't believe on small diesels they do. I ordered the intake and exhaust, now doing the research on the programmer the Edge platinum looks good sofar, any opinions?

Yep, definitely do the pyro. I was just talkin' to another guy on here that's held off on that because of the cost, but it's probably the most important auxiliary gauge you can have, especially if you're doing performance mods and/or towing.
