I have an 05 Dodge Ram 3500, and ive been looking at a set of 19.5 inch wheels and tires from www.ricksontruck.com. The thought of the long tire life is appealing, and i like the look, but does anyone have any experience with the commercial wheels? I have a friend with an F-450 and he said that he was thinking about going to 22.5s because the 19.5 tires were hard to find. I think hes just an idiot, they dont seem to rare to me, you can get them from the rickson truck website or from all the tire stores around here. I hope thats not the case cause i dont really want to go with a wheel any bigger than 19.5, but im not pleased with the tire life from my 16 inch tires, and the 19.5s look awesome. If anyone has some experience with the commercial tires let me know how you like them.

I drove a 99 f450 for 5 years and now have an 07 f550 for work. the f450 weighed almost 18k with an empty bed. the biggest trick to the 19.5s is to find a good brand name tire. there are a lot of crappy tires for that size of wheel out there. make sure you do your homework because you get what you pay for.

We run a '03 Super Duty 6.0 with 19.5s, they are kinda pricey, and don't seem to last nearly as long as a 22.5 would. Plus the tread patterns aren't very good for the 19.5s, in terms of finding something that gets good off road traction.

The guys at rickson truck claim say that city mpg would go down a little but most of the people that posted comments say that their highway mpg went up, and that makes sense cause once you get them rolling the harder tire would have less rolling resistance. As far as the tire choices, i was looking at goodyear G-124 tires thru rickson truck's website, and they offer wheels tires and accessories for the 450's and 550's if you wanna check it out. What kinda mileage do you get outta those tires, cause they claim that you can get 100,000 miles or more, one guy claimed 200,000 miles out of a set of 19.5 tires on a chevy i think... Do yall think that 22.5s are a better choice. They are probably more exspensive than they already pricey 19.5s, and im sure the tires are more exspensive ,too. As far as an aggressive tread, the mud rated commercial tires are like an all terrain, but i can live with that. I had mud tires and not only loved them when it got muddy (of course the drought is so bad here i havent seen mud in ever a year, were like 20 inches short on rain for the year!) but with all the towing i did they didnt last very long. I was sold on the 19.5s but im startin to think i might stick with regular wheels and another set of mud tires or all terrains.

I think the 19.5 Alcoas look pretty sweet. 22.5s seem a little big for a pickup to me, but that's just me. Only thing with aluminum wheels is they need polishing all the time, unless you get them clear-coated. But a crappy clear starts turning yellow after a while.
