still getting over 210 on temp pulling my 14000lb boat and trailer, this is with the ssdiesel water pump and duramax fan, im rather disappointed since it still warms up just as it did before, has anybody ever run without the thermostat in, any ideas, also anybody know which direction the waterflow is for the cooling system.

Still the stock or stock-sized radiator?

the rising temp under load with these engines is not uncommon. back when my 94 was almost brand new, we pulled a 24ft horse trailer through raton pass near the new mexico/colorado border, and the truck, being an automatic, shifted itself down into first gear and had derated itself with the temp up around 220 by the time we got to the top. even pulling a john deere 2150 down the highway at 55, it will do the same if i dont watch it. this is an unfortunate characteristic of these engines. almost every website with info on these engines has done a feature on updating the cooling system. including this one. check it out

I found the best thing for any hard pulling heat issues is to install electric fans with the fans pulling through a metal shroud making use of the whole radiator. My radiator is stock for an inline six gasser and I have a cummins 5.9 pulling My four horse trailer with no heat issues.

A real toy for big boys.I installed a 5.9-B Cummins, P-7100 inline stage one pump,  banks cooler,5in exh, removable air bags for towing, 1in body lift,2in hanger lift,2 12in elect fans, customized mounting,(eng mounts, intake piping, trans adapter etc) Runs on home made bio-fuel at 70 cents a Gal.

You have those fans on a switch or a thermostat?

Thermostat switch is off an old 855 Cummins fan solonoid.plus I have an on switch for safety(never used it)also have an off switch for going into deep water. Also have murphy alarm coolant and oil gauges(hard to keep an eye on gauges when off roading).
