Where's that? I thought all diesels prior to '95 were emissions exempt?

EGR might be a part of it. I thought Colorado fell under federal emissions laws, and up until recently, diesel vehicles were exempt. I'd check out your state's EPA or equivalent website, and also look on the federal EPA site.

I don't see anything on there about diesels, only gas-powered heavy-duty vehicles.

What part of the emissions wont she pass? Need more info on what part of the inspection is failing. Is it the opacity test, it how much black smoke you make? Or are parts of the system missing? If your making to much smoke, check for turbo waste gate problems, those vacumum waste gates tend to have issues. If your still mechanicly injected and not the electronic DS4 injector pump, double check your pump timing if its mechanicly injected. Things like worn injectors and injector pump can lead to excessive smoke issues. Tell us more info please. Mike

it is the opacity test 67% at 60mph 70% at 50mph 40% at 40mph, its the elc. fuel inj. with the green tag pump. i had wondered about the waste gate solenoid, check engine light was flickering iradically read codes, map sensor and solved problem till highway speeds then flickers on and off no code was saved on the computer, thinking it might be he no.3 egr solenoid. i am new to the diesel world, when they did the emissions test the kid drove the hell out of my tuck so hard i was about to pull him out of the cab and deck him is that normal?thanks for the help derek

You mean they actually put it on the dyno there in Colorado? They do that out here in CA for gassers, but I think diesels are still smog-exempt out here, at least the over-8600 GVW trucks.

My opinion would be to forget about the inspection shop that flunked you and start over new at another shop. Your best bet would be to find a Chevy/GMC new truck dealership that does it's own inspections. They will be more likely to understand your trucks quirks and not try to force it to fail!
