i have 06 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel larmaie.... at abt 80000 miles the transmission wouldnt shift... had it rebuilt with new heavy duty torque converter... ran abt 5000 miles then would shift up to second gear and hang goin into third... rpms would go up then it would finally shift.. if you stopped and restarted the engine.. the truck would drive fine until you slowed at say a red light... as you accelerated again the trnasmission would hang... trnasmission guy tore it apart again,, cant get a code... said it was computer error.. reflashed compter, replaced compter... dodge house says internal.. tranny guy says its not... another trnsmssin guy says it 2nd gear lock out... that gives a phantom code... he might be able to fix it... but he says he doesnt want other person problems... hed start by putting in new oem transmission any thoughts??? thanks ptr

i know this is gonna sound stupid but check your batteries and alternator, we had a dodge van that would do the same thing and it ended up being the battery went bad. something with the voltageif it wasnt over a certain point the transmission wouldnt work. its probably not the problem but id check to make sure it wasnt something stupid like that, with the truck running it should read 13-14 volts at the batteries.

isnt weird how some of the littlest things will stop a truck. had the speed sensor go out in my truck next thing i know abs light comes on and speedo reads 0 trans goes in limp mode, all cause of a stupid 20 dollar part from ford.

My 99 dodge had all kinds of porblems because of some sensors. Me and my dad had the trans apart o few times, everything looked amazing for a truck with 240,000 miles of towing with a stock auto. We couldnt figure it out, cleaning the batter terminals was a temporary fix, but i eventually had to break down and take it to the dealer. Apparently at some point one of the batteries went bad and wreaked havoc on some sensor, and when i replaced the battery i still had the sensor problem. That sensor messed with all the other electronics and made another sensor go out and they even had to replace some of the main power wires from the battery to up under the truck because the insides had turned to mush. I guess what im getting at is dont overlook the little electronic crap. I had to trans guys tell me i needed a new one, after some expensive ass sensors and some wires, my truck ran better than it ever had as long as i had it.
