How do you "blow the soot out"? Just drill the hole & drive it around, or do you stick an compressed air hose in there and blow it out?

What year is his 6.7? I've heard so far that the 07.5 have the worst problems with the turbo,DPF,change oil light etc. But I also know that with cummins new flashes most of that has gone away.
He does have the newest flash right?

give it a year, it takes time to work bugs out of the new engine, esecially since it came out 3 years earlier then orginally designed for the 2010 deput that it was scheduled for, they did it to try and save dodge from bankruptcy, did it work, who knows

True and another thing I might point out is the current 6.7 Cummins is clean enough that it meets the 2010 Emissions. I know the Chevy and possibly the Ford will both have to be redesigned to meet the even tougher laws. And when that happens they will go through the same amout of problems. Or worse.

they have a cleaner kit that smells like dishwashing liquid and than drive it to see if it worked I dont know if it did but the cat on the new trucks was like 3,800 dollars and the dff filter was also clodded up its 1,800 dollar when they go out of warranty i would cut mine off or before

I'm posting this again on every blog here to let people know what occured to my family this past Friday. Our 2008 3500 Dodge is in the shop. It's been towed 3 times in 10 days for a variety of issues. Please read the following:
Message sent to Dedge.com
When we picked up our truck from the Lithia Dealership on August 25, the Catalytic warning starting acting up. A independent mechanic contacted the Medford Dodge dealership who stated it would not cause the car to disable and to run it at high speed for 45 min. I also called to verify that and was told the truck would not disable. The Dodge manual also states this. But on Aug 29, my husband and daughter were almost killed when the truck shut itself off and my Husband lost power steering and brakes going around a curve at HWY speed with no warning whatsoever. The sheriff came out to help my family afterward. This should not have happened. The GM here at Lithia stated the particulate filter became clogged, but no one can see our truck for more than a week or more because of only having 1 diesel mechanic. We now again a second time have to use a rental vehicle that we have to pay for. Dodge needs to know about this issue. We were never told the electrical in our truck had to be "reflashed" to account for this problem---although we've been at 2 different dealerships for scheduled maintenance. Before all this happened we had a "check engine" light on for weeks and had an appt with the Medford Dealership on Sept 3 to have it fixed, before our truck gave out) I need a quick response from Dodge because we are without a vehicle and want to know why this information is not being sent to consumers as a potential threat to safety.

If you were only there 10 minutes, you did not have your turbo, "cleaned".... All they did was reflash (restart) your computer to rid CEL and updated your computer. The turbo has to be taken off to be cleaned and then a hole drilled and then cleaner sprayed inside along with forced air to blow the carbon soot buildup out. they then thread a hole and put a plug in to clog up the hole for cleaning it. very time consuming. I had mine cleaned, then 400 miles later my original turbo failed and I now have the, "new updated turbo" that is not supposed to fail...we'll see

Also, I've had my 07.5 in the shop 5 times already. 1st time for a O2 sensor recall...then check engine light came on 4 times in 3 weeks. Long story short, I have the second turbo and have 11,500 miles on my truck. I still have not have any of the CAT or DPF issues so looking forward to that JK.... I am a long time Dodge Cummins guy, but this is ridiculous....1 more turbo problem and I qualify for the Arizona Lemon Law....probably will go for refund of purchase price rather than a replacement vehicle. Should have kept my '02 dually 5.9 24V....had 190,000 miles and never a day in the shop.....

When the CEL first comes on for turbo issues, the code is P2262 (low or no turbo boost detected). techs have to follow a procedure to fix it based on TSB's from dodge. first they reflash the computer to rid CEL, then they clean it, if that fails they replace the turbo at $4K a piece (thus the band-aid on a $50K truck for the first fix)
I love this new 6.7, the 6 speed tranny and exhaust brake rock for towing; stock my 6.7 outperforms my old '02 even with chip, exhaust and intake.....but, I can't believe DODGE never tested this system fully before releasing it to the public and potentially damaging their rock solid reputation with the older bulletproof 5.9's
Should have bought the '07 5.9 instead of the 07.5 6.7....then I coulda upgraded the heck out of it and not worried about it...good thing is my 6.7 is under factory warranty but it has been in the shop a total of 9 days already for repairs and my, "free" rental from dodge dealership cost me $10 a day???
