Ok for you guys that like the powerJOKE and the cummNOT i think its time to give it up for the real contender the Duramax, if you havent heard the ford has twin turbo'd its 6.4L for 08 and guess what the charts say.....it still doesnt reach the D-max's stats its close but no cigar and the Duramax is not even twin its single still so what does that say that the ford twin'd theres and still couldnt do it, as for the cummings they are a good truck iam not going to lie but it still say that the Duramax has them by a lil so what if they twin'd the max and the cummings FORD........WELL ATLEAST THEY CIRCLED THE PROBLEM

Not to sound like a total jerk, but there are already 2 threads started for spouting off about your trucks make and model, etc. Should try to keep the threads to a minimum. We don't need 18 threads about the same stuff. Just a reminder.

It seems every blog I read these days there is some guy ranting about how great his D-MAX is. I think if the truck you own does everything you want it to then it's the perfect truck for you. Your D-MAX ALLISON might be right for you but dosen't work for me. I don't like A/T. In my opinion A/T is for housewive's so I don't care how great the allison is, it's not for me. If your pulling your boat down the interstate to the lake on a nice sunny day and you can't drive a standard I can't think of a better truck than the GM. When I load my camper on my truck I don't have to worry about the front diff bending. When I'm on a logging road, (that's a road with no pavement for you city folk), and come to a deactivation I know my truck will go through it without highcentering. When I go hunting I know I can drive through snow, deep cold slushy water holes and my front diff will keep working. So the Dodge, is the right truck for me. I know the Ford will do all of this but I have issues with the 6 ltr. I guess what I am trying to say is each truck has its pros and cons and may not suit your specific needs.

Must be new to the diesel world since you drive a Duramax and spell Cummins with a g.

It is funny though how no one acknowledges it being a dodge. They disregard all the dodge components because they are junk and call it a cummins.LOL. Pretty expensive engine with a crappy shipping crate.

It's because we can! If the Cummins came in the Ford or GM you guys would do the same thing, belive me if your trucks came with a Cat it would be known as "your CAT" not your Ford or Chev. I don't know of anyone that brags about there Navistar or Isuzu. There is nothing and I mean NOTHING cool about that big FEAR THIS ISUZU sticker in your back window!

that is funny, I love my Dodge and my Cummins. *** Chevy can't support a real diesel with that weak ifs but good point BCRAM.

When it comes to diesel you have to admit that the inline six is a superior design, I don't care who makes it. just look at the facts; an inline six has seven main bearings versus five for a v-8, and they are almost twice as big! The inline six is naturally balanced because of the 153624 fire order. The stroke is longer on an inline six than a comparable v-8, and that is where torque comes from. A v-8 can get rpm's easier, but an inline six will have the low end grunt that a diesel is made for.

How many Kenworths or Peterbuilts use V-8 diesels? ![]()
Both the Duramax and the Cummins make their max TQ at 1600 rpm, and the Cummins is a straight 6, not a V-8.

So far, i haven't read anything about SOUND on any forum!!!........All these engines are great and will do more than what 90% of the people bought them to do. AS for Sound, An inline 6 just sounds better!!! It's what you think of when you hear the word Diesel!! The V8's just sound wierd to me and do have a very good exhaust tone!! My Cummins has a turbo back 4" Volant exhaust and it sounds so much better than any PS or DMAX that ever heard!!!
Who's with me on this???
INLINE 6's just Sound AWESOME!!!
"CUMMINS GUYS KEEP IT STRAIGHT!!! THOSE OTHER GUYS SWING BOTH WAYS!!!"

The Cummins sounds better with a performance exhaust rather than a straight pipe. I had a 1994 F-250 idi factory turbo with the A.T.S turbo upgrade, mandrel exhaust (no muffler)and man that was the sweetest exhaust note I have ever heard on a diesel to this day!

yes the dodges do sound cool. just because they have a dark sound to them. but you can make any gas sound like that. my friends 6.0L with a 5 inch edge exhaust and a green air filter sounds awesome. when it reved up at about 2000rpm you can barely stand by the exhaust casue the wissle is so loud (i aint exagerating either). when you floor it has that barky sound of a dodge. so i think all in all the ford 6.0L sounds the best. so with a ford 6.0L you get the wissel of the turbo that you dont get alot of in the dodge and the bark of the dodge sounds aweseome when you combine them.
were pissin up a rope guys!!!

i like the sound of a 7.3, 6.6, and 5.9 when straight piped music to my ears. btw a cummins ISX or Cat c-15 with dual stacks straight piped is the best sound in the world
