the oil change schedule was up to date because it is a truck they leased from us. we are thinking a pin inside the engine walked out over a period of time and add onto that towing a 56,000 lb load and that is a recipe for disaster which is what happened

The next time you find a Duramax of Powerstroke in an excavator, bulldozer, front end loader, BOAT, or any other kind of equipment that demands reliability and longevity under mostly any conditions come and see me. The powerstroke and Dmax have their good points, none of which I can think of for the powerstroke but I am sure there are some, and the dmax has an allison. OK. BUT, check out this picture of the size of the connecting rods for the 3 (Oh, and guess who's the biggest): http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?p=1226410

hey hunter 5.9 you wont see then in any big equipment cause they dont make a motor that big for them. isuzu and international and cummins are in semis. in some cases there is a cummins in a big piece of equipment. no the cummins motor is not the best. cat is the best and everyone on this site knowes that. if you think cummins is better then cat you must be on some drugs or something. i have never herd of a cummins in a G24 cat motor grader. i have never herd of a cummins in a john deere. the only things i have herd of cummins in is those junker case skid steers or backhoes. and the other off brands that are crap. nothing is better then the cat or john deere equipment. go to the big mines in wyoming and see if you see any off brand junk running around. you wont they are mostly cat and some john deere. personaly i like john deere better cause there machines will do just what a cat will do. yet for a new john deere excavator it is 300000 grand (i know i just baught one 3 months ago) and for a new cat excavator it is almost 350000 do the same stuff but they cost more with cat you are paying for the name.

Thank you for removing all doubt. You have finally proven that you know nothing of the subject of diesels. The only things you know are stories your daddy tells you. It's really not even worth trying to reason with you.

I have to agree though that Isuzu, International and Cummins are used in many other applications. Yes they are not the D-Max or Powerstroke, but they are by the same manufacturers. That should say something about all the engines. They are all made by reputable manufacturers. The Cummins however is the only one that is the same engine from a bus, to a semi to a 2500 light duty. Thats the biggest difference. I'm a GM guy that thinks a Cummins would be great in my truck ... but the D-Max work great too.

i just love how everybody thinks a cat is the best motor. let me tall you all this all diesel motors have their problems on cats its the heads and sometimes the bearings on cummins its sometimes the turbo on detroits its the head gaskets and plastic oil pans. no motor is the best in fact the c7's tuned for about 200 hp just suck they are underpowered break all the time and you cant keep the outside of the engine yellow with all the leaks. the M11 is the same way it is always going to have leaks. if i would have to pick one motor to have it would have to be a N14 a very good motor with very little or no problems
