I need to get more air into the engine, but i dont have the money for a turbo at the moment. So i was wondering if a wastegate or somthing cheaper than a new turbo could fix the problem or at least help out for now?

you can try a boost elbow, those help alot, an aftermarket waste gate will run $350(for a good brand), you can have your turbo machined out to hx40 specs but thats gonna cost you around 450 or more depending on the shop, so there 900 bucks, you could also get a banks quick spool or edge jammer housing, but those run 350-600 bucks. just some options for you.

How much boost are you getting now? If your above 36 PSI or so I'm afraid there's nothing to do but bite the bullet and buy a new turbo. If your not that high then I'd say a boost elbow and thats pretty much as good as you can do. Or else turn your chips down.

Hey How is your tranny holding up. Mine is like a 90 year old woman (bitter, overworked, and on its way out) I was looking into the ramzilla kit.

the aruora 2000 is to small diesel power did a project 12 valve and it did not impress to many here i think they should have went with aleast the 3000 or try indusrtail injection i would stay with a 62 mm turbo the neighbor put a 64 on his new dodge and it lost a mile to the gallon and driving easy the egts went up and when you got into it to get the turbo to move some air they went down if your looking for a good street turbo i would go for the 62 thats what im putting on my dodge and still get good mileage .

Take a look at High Tech Turbo's HTB2. Go with the 14cm housing as the 12 is most likely too small for your stacked arrangement. I have the 62/12/65 on my truck and it dropped my EGT's a solid 250 degrees. Used to be with my "Hot" Juice I'd be pushing 1500 degrees by the time I got to 5th gear when rowing through the gears hard. Now 1250 is as high I see all the way through 6th (unloaded on level ground at 1050 ft elevation).
It spools just as fast as the stocker, no change in fuel mileage or maybe just a pinch better. Still smokes like crazy down low, but clears up nice once you get it wound up.
Industrial Injection's Super Phat Shaft 62 would also be a very good one to look at. It's just a tick bigger (exhaust wheel I beleive) than the HTB2.
Another bonus with either of these turbos is they would make a good "small" turbo if you ever decide to upgrade to twins.
While you may be OK with SOME 64mm turbos, resist the urge to go with turbos with inducer wheels 66mm and larger. Sure they make more peak power, but your truck will be a huge lag-monster on the street and most likely surge like mad when towing. They are great for dynos and competition, but not so much for a dailey driver / tow rig. Unless you are running big injectors, and a huge injection pump, I think one of the bigger 62's would do you fine.

I-6 Cummins guys are keepin' it straight. Those other boys swing both ways.
