About 3 months ago i sold my 99 3500 and bought an 05 3500 with the 6 speed manual, it was bone stock when i got it nad i have added a K&N air intake and a siverline exhaust, no chip or fuel modifications. I was suprised at the amount of smoke i could make it blow, only sometimes but it was more than i thought a stocker would. I have a buddy that has 5 dodge cummins, an 08, an 06, a 99, and 2 98.5s, and the only one he hasnt souped up is the 08, and i asked him about it and he drove it around and said he thinks the previous owner had upgraded the injectors. Before he had his 06 he had an 05 2500 6speed, and he said mine has a good bit more power and blows more smoke than his old dodge would, when they were almost identical. How can i tell if my truck has bigger injectors? If they have been upgraded, is there any way to tell what brand they are?

Sounds like yours might have had some mods done on it. But it doesn't necessarily mean it has new injectors. If it's smoking a lot, it might mean you need to give it more air.

Really about the only way to check the injectors is to talk to the PO or pull them out and get the #'s off them and start calling around. It might also have a chip on it too somewhere so I'd look for that as well.

It doesnt smoke alot, i mean, not like a truck with a lot of mods does. If i accelerate as fast as i can from a dead stop, i get a large but kinda thin puff of smoke at the bottom of each gear when i shift and the boost drops a little before it builds back up. Its a good size puff of smoke, but its not thick and black like a real souped up one. It has an aftermarket air intake, and with no other mods but the exhaust i cant see why id need more air. Kazairl, as far as a chip on it, what would i look for, any telltale sign that are visible? I cant call the previous owner cause i bought it from a used car place in TN that specializes in bigger trucks, but before they got it it had been repo'd.

I have an '05 Dodge Rodeo truck (1 ton dually, 4x4) that sounds alot like your truck, 6 spd and all. I bough it used about a year ago and have wondered if there were some sort of upgrades done to it.
It seems to have alot more power than my wifes which is an absolute stock 05 Cummins with an automatic.
I can blow some smoke, but nothing crazy or anything I can get a good look at because at that point I'm usually moving pretty good.
Too much work to pull injectors to satisfy my curiosity

I agree! I think we have the exact same truck minus the Rodeo thing, which would be nice, but sounds kinda fancy. Im fixin to pull the carpet out and lay down a rubber floor so i can hose it out cause cow *** sticks to carpet. As far as the smoke blowing, i accidentally blew a one of my occasional "big" puffs of smoke in a motorcyle cops face during an "emergency" lane change. Ok, actually i was trying to get around a stupid driver and didnt see the cop, whoops, didnt get pulled over or nothing but he was pissed!
