I had an 2006 Dodge that got 21mpg in town and 26mpg hiway. I ran it just about as hard as a truck could run and never had any problems with tranny's or anything else, even towing 12000 lbs. Im not sure where the bad brakes thing came from cuz up untill 2008 dodge ran the biggest rotor of allnow they are about the same size. I like the brakes on the dodge way better than the ford. We used to spend a fortune on brakes for our superdutys.

haha ok yall got me on the mileage part!

but im pretty sure that if jeff gordon went 75 he would lose every race... 75 is nothing

but how did you like the 08 ram 2500? and the lifetime powertrain warranty is something no one else has because the engines are so well built. (period :P )

hows the wife feeling about the prices though?

O.K. sandsliger, If you compare the CHEVY, DODGE, FORD on the web, the dodge to longer to stop than the other two. GOOGLE diesel truck review. That review is for the new diesel trucks.

gunman that is without the "Jake Brake" which only dodge has

the jake brake is an exhaust brake that has a butterfly valve, i believe after the turbo, that closes to build back pressure to slow down the vehicle without using brakes

HI txcharger, All 3 heavy duty diesel truck makers give 5/100,000 warranty. DODGE will give you LIFETIME on the gas engines, except for SRT model. Right now my wife wants me to put more miles on my 1999 F250, before I buy another truck. I have 128,332 miles and it's a 2WD. Problem she makes more money than me, and I'm going to have to VETO her say in the matter. And that going to make her MADDER & MEANNER than a pit-bull
with PMS. She a BEAUTIFUL CUBAN lady, but remember she also has that CUBAN TEMPER. I'm a baggage handler, that make crappy-money. Well I hope you like my soap-opera life !!!

Well I have driven all three and i prefer the brakes on the Dodge not to mention they are alot cheaper to operate.

gunman you seem like a very nice guy... i would go with the dodge just casue i know they have the best motor out there... there all gunna ride pretty comfy... and the 6.4L did have the flamethrower problem... but they fixed them after the first half a year of the new engines... yes the 6.0L are kinda junk but some are very good... the newer year ones will be pretty reliable... becasue they will have all the bugs wroked outa them... i cant say much for the d-max... but i heard they are kinda junk... well my friends dads is and i rode in it... its ber nice ride... but the 6.4L will run over it in the pull... but the 6.4L is hard on milage... really hard... i mean like 14 is the absolute most my dad has got outa his with the 4.10 gears... the 6.0L are pre good on millage... moms is an 04 with 90000 miles and no problms yet... and it gets 21 on highway  the cummins will get pretty good i think (so ive heard) and the d-max is at the 15 mark my frinds dad says...     overall with what you have listed i would go with the dodge or the ford hands down.

HI 08 POWERSTROKE GUY, THANK YOU for the information, I'm driving a 7.3 psd F250 right now. I like the look's of the FORD, but that 6.4 is too new for me to trust !!! THE DURAMAX IFS and ALUMINUM HEADS, worries me.The DODGE tranny's have a bad record, but I know the 6.7 has a new one. I'm in no rush, will keep listening to all you guys for advice. I will even read DURAMAX BEN'S post on the subject !!!

ok i was reading that you want 22mpg outa your diesel truck... all three of the new ones will NOT get that... unless you put chips on them and take the BS epa crap off of it... now if you want 22... like i said moms gets 21 on highway... and thats goin 73... we went to vegas the other week took it... and got 19.8 goin 82... thats through salt lake and through some other big towns... and we arnt easy on it...    i will tell you now my bro had an 05 d-max and it only got 13 at the max... and the cummins will get 22 no problem if your not hard on it... i mean the 5.9L's will like the 99-04 models... after 04 i heard they kept getting worse and worse millage...       go to aberdeen south dakota... you ccan get a basic x-cab longbox with the bells and whistles... for 38000 an 09... but x-cab are outdated... i would go with a 4 door for sure...      im thinkin your lookin at a 06-07 cummins for the amount of money you wanna spend... the new fords... well dads... was 48000    but a 6.4L reg cab short box... looked like crap... power nothing on the inside... standard work truck... was at the same place for 27000... pretty good if all your looking for is a decent motor...      all in all i will say it again... go with the for or cummins...     now im not sure how much boost the 6.7 makes but im sure its aout 33-35   i have the 6.4L to 39.5... and the guage goes to 40... that aint gunna matter for you though... cause your not pulling anything...     i was readin in the thread earlyier to and i seen the someone said that a hemi will get 22 mpg... if it does i wanna see it... i havent seen a hemi go over 16... and thats a gramma drivin it... no lie.        so yeah... all in all the cumins and the powerstroke are the best for what you are wanting to *** like they said the chevy does have an amazing ride... but they are weak... ive seen 4 with broken front axels.
