Hi out there.Has anyone run into this? I have a stock 06 ram 2500 55000 miles.I had hard starting issues the dealer loaded in a new program and this seems to be cured. But it seemed to have a little less power and lots of smoke when pushed hard. Now the real interesting part, I installed a boost gauge and have NONE.I checked the turbo, spins free, waste gate is closed,no leaks or holes in cooler or inlet lines. Also checked the gauge its ok.Anybody have any ideas?

Is that under load or idling or coasting because under coast or idle there will be none.were is the gauge tapped into?

I understand that at idle there there will be no boost. but 3000 rpm ? I should get somthing. Also the reason I found this is I was installing a propane injection system and the boost psi switch (4psi) would not close.I am tapped into the intake about 6 inches befor the heater grid. I have tried this both in the drivway running the engine up to 3000 rpm and on the road I still get nothing?

sounds like you may have a junk guage, it happens, if you didnt have any boost, youd be blowing black smoke like crazy and the truck would run like *** and not even get you to 3000 rpms, try a different guage

I did check the guage, put it on a manifold with a set of AC gauges works fine, also my 4 psi boost switch for the propane injection  will not even come on. But it to works fine on my tester.I am really scraching my head on this one.

that truck has a variable vane turbo I believe. It is controlled by the computer I wonder if when the dealer messed with your computer they messed something up.someone correct me if I'm wrong about the turbo. One other question is there any movement in the turbo bearings when you grab the shaft and try to move it up and down or forward to back?

check the exhaust side of the turbo to make sure you havent lost the exhaust impellor.

A real toy for big boys.I installed a 5.9-B Cummins, P-7100 inline stage one pump,  banks cooler,5in exh, removable air bags for towing, 1in body lift,2in hanger lift,2 12in elect fans, customized mounting,(eng mounts, intake piping, trans adapter etc) Runs on home made bio-fuel at 70 cents a Gal.

Your truck doesnt have a varible turbo on it they started that with the 6.7's. If your truck has just lost a little power then im sure your turbo its self is fine, if your turbo doesnt build boost at all  your truck pretty much turns into a big paper weight with NO power. When you drive your truck can your hear your turbo? The computer on the common rails does control the boost by regulating the injection pulse. If your truck is bone stock no chip no nothing I would take it back to the dealer and have them flash your computer again, something didnt get loaded on the first time.

Thanks for all the input. It is not a variable turbo. I have pulled the exaust elbo and turbo is ok. Truck has no upgrades other than an airfilter And my propane injection which is not working yet.Maby you are on the right track about the computer. This all seems to have come about after the dealer did the change. Do you think I should get it reflashed by the daler or is it time to get an aftermarket programer and if so any recomendations.

I would get it back to running good stock before your put a programmer or a chip in your truck. Just for the fact a chip will void your warranty, and the dealer will most likely tell you the chip caused it and make you pay to fixed what they messed up in the first place
