Hey Guys,
Its startin to get cool around here. Not cold yet though. Just wondering what temp you guys plug in at. The manual isn't very clear about this. I was thinking somewhere in the +30 and lower catagory.Thanks for the insight.

well i dont own a dmax but i dont plug mine in till its gets into the teens. of course its starts a little hard but with a hi-idle setting and letting it warm up for a bit its fine  


1997 f-250 7.3 powerstroke. just another old truck making big power hahaha
my lug nuts need more torque then what your honda makes

i live in steamboat springs and winters are harsh usually plug in below 25deg but it does no harm to do it below 32deg takes less fuel to warm up that way.

Hey thanks for the info. By the way i like your comment about the lugnuts an the honda. my dad works at a honda dealership an i am always bustin on him about the rice burners.LOL

I was plugging in my '06 when it got down in the 20's or so. The heater or cord burned, I don't remember which. The dealer replaced it and said it didn't need plugged in unless it was below 0 or so.  They also said the new cord had a switch in it so that it wouldn't power the heater unless the temp was pretty low, but I don't remember at what temp they said it would start working.  I was just plugging it in to help warm-up fuel mileage.  They always start fine anyway.

i only plug mine in so the dang thing would warm up quicker right now its getting in the mid and low 30's i thought about blocking off a little less than half of the raditor only not the intercooler what else could i do i 5 to 10 miles from home when it gets warm and yes i always let it warm up about 5 to 8 minutes before i leave could my thoumost be stuck. it never seems to want to warm up noraml driving around it wont even get to 180 degrees in the temps

I have mine plugged into an outlet timer that comes on about 4 hours before I go to work and I usually don't plug it in until it gets down to 30 or less and I've never had any problems. I do know that if you plug it in when it's too warm out or if you leave it plugged in too long, it will set a fuel temp sensor fault code. GM doesn't recommend plugging in above 0 but as everyone knows, dmax's take forever to warm up when it's cold and it doesn't hurt anything to plug it in above 0. I hope this helps, stay warm!

Ya the cooling systems in dmax's are so efficient that they just won't warm up when it's cold. The grille cover blocks air flow so there's less heat transfer in the radiator, making for warmer engine temps.

I have a 2007 with the LBZ engine live in
Saratoga Springs,NY. I use the block heater
just as soon as the frost hits here. I have
mine on a timer, comes on at 4:00AM off at 8:00AM. Many GOOD reason to use. My heater
warms the engine to 140 degrees.
1) engine warms up much faster so heater and
defroster work sooner.
2)The engine goes into low idle sooner.
3)Tranny warms up quicker and shifts to higher gears sooner.
4)All the above save you fuel ***
