What are the highest EGT readings you've gotten while towing? Was there any damage, or was the truck fine afteward? How do you control EGTs while towing?

I have had 1450F when towing and in regen coming back from SD. I figured that If I did not have the gage for the EGT in the 6.7L I would not have know this temp at all. Per Dodge in their O and M guide they explain that you should let the engine idle for 5 min when stop before shutting off if you are towing. Since I am stock and I want to see if I have any Turbo issue, I ran at this temp of 1450F. I did notice that I did not regen again until I was home this was after 700 miles from the time I regen last. So I think the new 6.7L water cooled Turbos and exhaust system will run hotter then the older 5.9L engines.

Yeah, the upside to driving more aggressively and producing higher EGTs in the newer diesels is that they don't go into re-gen as often, because you're doing the job for it!

are you asking cause you are having a problem with this or just curious about possible safeguards, i have had mine up to 1600 only for a minute or so, but with a few upgrades i honestly havent broken more than 1200 even with a trailer behind the rig. Just take your foot outta the pedal, goin at a slower speed with a load uphill will save you alot of money in the long run
