Hey, Im thinkin of buying an 05 or 06 6.0 I'v been a Dodge guy all my life but really like the way those years in the Fords look. The only thing holding me back is the horror stories I'v heard about the 6.0 I know for sure I dont want a 03 or 04 I was just wonderin if they had the problems fixed in the later years? Or am I better off to stay with the Dodge, figure no better way to find out about 6.0's then ask the guys that drive em thanks

I Have the 04 model, I have had no problems, it run's great. I guess it was a hit or miss. I have 51k on it and its never seen the shop. Have the K&N filter and a straight pipe exhaust. I get about 25 hwy and 17 city. Was running the Hypermax tuner, but am going to the edge. I like having the gauges for monitoring. I also pull a 12k fifth. And your right the looks are awsome...

ya its the hit or miss I really worry about I cant afford a truck I have to work on all the time LOL I would be willing to give it a shot still though iv had an 02 cummins that i had to put a engine in it at 146,000 miles and an 05 i had to replace the engine it at 14,000 miles so my luck with dodge hasnt been that great those were my work trucks though pullin every day the one i will buy next will just be a personal truck

the later 05-06 6.0s were alot better the the earlier ones alot of problems were fixed, but if you do get one id get rid of the egr and investing in head studs, ive heard from many people that love their trucks alot more cause of that alone. you might wanna check out powerstrokenation.com or dieselstop.com both powerstroke sites

I have a 06 F-250 crewcab 4x4 I bought new. I have 36000 miles on it now. I have not had any problems. It's still all stock. I want to do a intake, exhaust and milage programer to get a little better milage. I get 14 in town and 18 on hiway. I have pulled 15000lbs over a pass with 6% grade and its towes as fast as you want to go with that amount of weight. The body on the Ford is way better then the Dodge. I work in a bodyshop and work on everything Ford and Chevy have a lot better fit and finish on there trucks then Dodge.

I just shut mine down, I know Im gonna have to do the entire delete. The turbo lag seems alittle better. I was more concernd about the egt's and boiling anti freeze. I believe I have heard of a thread on the P/S web site, the guy goes thru the entire process With pic's, including welding the egr tube. cost was 0 dollars. He left the cooler in place, with no exhuast going thru, it shoud not boil.

you have several different options to choose from with the EGR. on an 03- to 04 model it is a $30 plug that get puts into the uppipe to block the path to the egr cooler. however on an 05+ you are looking somewhere in the vicenity of $250 if i remember correctly. because they changed something in the factory UP- pipe and you get a comletely new uppipe it is worth it. a ggod website to check for 6.0 stuff is www.elitedieseleng.com. they have a lot of stuff to offer for the 6.0.  or you have the option of spending a weekend and completly removing the egr from the truck. and for headstuds you are looking at $1500-2000 installed. unless you can get lucky enough to find a STEALERSHIP that will do the work under warranty. then you will just be out the cost of the studs (ARP runs about 500). if you find a truck you are interested in get the vin and run an OASIS report on it. it will tell you what has been done to the truck as far as warranty work and what all has been done to the truck
