moisture. when it get really cold, honsetly not even really cold, florida winter cold, moisture builds on you intake mainfold and your exhaust. when you staart your truck, it is just burning the moisture off you exhaust and you exhaust manifold.

White smoke and black smoke are usually both caused by fuel. In the case of black it is too much fuel. With white smoke it can mean the fuel is not burning right. if that is the case usually it means the air is not getting hot enough to burn the diesel fuel properly. I agree with conner that it could be condensation. When it's cold My truck always puffs white at startup then it clears to just a light haze then goes away. However from your description it sounds like that may not be the case. You said it does it pretty much everytime. Does the outside temp seem to matter? From your user name I'm guessing your from Arizona? Does it smoke white whether it is hot or cold outside? If so then I would suspect weak compression rather than condensation. How many miles are on your truck?

You might have some water in your fuel, too. Get some FPPF or other diesel fuel additive to remove the excess water from your fuel system.
