Hi everyone. After all these years ( I'm 62) of playing with gasoline, I finally found a diesel I couldn't say no to. It's a 2001 7.3 Super duty crew cab, short bed, automatic. It has some mods done to it and I have no idea where the power and torque are. The changes are, 4" exhaust from the turbo back, a free flowing muffler, AFE air filter, a chip from Diesel Dynamics, and gauges from the same company. Now I have looked all over for Diesel Dynamics and can't find anything about them. The controller looks and is wired just like an Edge controller. Maybe someone just changed the name on it? My truck also has a Mag-Hytec pan on the automatic, and the tires are filled with nitrogen ( I've been told about the tires). Any educated guess on power, torque and MPG, if I drive with a light foot @ about 65-70 mph. I really do like my first diesel, but I have no expereance to compare it to as to power and driveability. It really seems to get up and go great. Thanks for anyones time. Roger

Have you kept track of what kind of mileage you're getting? Good thing you got a 7.3 instead of a 6.0. I think you'll end up being happier. Some of the 6.0s have problems. There are so many variables that come into play, I'd say to try and find a dyno in your area and strap it down on the rollers and see what it puts down. I'd guess maybe 350 hp and 700 lb./ft. or thereabouts.

Thanks for the reply. I live in the mountains in northern Arizona, so the closest dyno is about 100 miles or so away. With the price of fuel (although it is droping) makes it kind of expensive to make a run for just that. We try to combine trips as much as possible. I haven't had the truck long enough to check the milage, but I plan on it very soon. I was just wondering what I might expect. I have another question. I want to add a bypass filter to my 7.3. I have a Frantz filter on the shelf and I'm wondering if I can use it for the engine as a bypass filter? How about one on the trans (automatic)? Where would I hook it up to? Thanks for your time. Roger

It has 140,000 on it. I'm really interested in a bypass filter. I think the FS2500 is a good filter, but I can't afford the $450 price tag right now. I do have a Frantz filter that I would like to use, either on the engine or the trans. Any ideas or coments are greatly appreciated. Roger

Thanks for the info. I have picked up another Frantz filter and will install one on the engine and one on the trans. I've got a good lead on the engine now. Thanks again. Roger
