hi out there to my diesel enthusiast, i was wondering what is required to reach 1000HP on a 2002 7.3L model? from stock to all the way to 1000HP, what parts would u need to reach that goal? twin turbos, twin pumps, stacking....let me know what u think is required to reach 1000HP?

i havent heard of any 7.3s hitting 1000hp mark and still be road legal. i might be wrong but if so it would require a lot of work and machining.

it will cost you prolly around 30,000 to hit 1,000hp in a 7.3 just cause of the HEUI system. check out the sled puller double overtime his engine makes that kinda popwer and has said that half the budget for the truck was spent on the engine alone.

i agree with needpower. There is a dude that works for ATS diesel (it was actually in a diesel powermag)he did all kinds of work to it, it actually said it was about $200,000, and if i remember correctly it only hit 634 horsepower. i thought that was ridiculous my 04 cummins has around 450 horsepower but it only has around $1000, and you can see the mods listed below. Hope this helps.

7.3's not worth it. get a cummins or dmax. i have never liked anything from ford but that's my opinion. everyone has their own taste.

I know of two Powerstrokes at about 750hp at the wheels, and both have about 30K in the motor and they're running nitrous.  I've seen one make 694rwhp with no nitrous so he could in theory hit about 800-900hp.....I'd say about 30-40K is what you'd need to spend...2K for injectors, rods, custom twin turbos, etc.

wow, so a lot of money is needed to get to a 1000HP on a 7.3L powerstroke. well u would probably be knowned as the fist 1000HP powerstroke street driavable. now that is worth it.

If you're trying to get into the four digits in terms of power output, I'd probably go with a Cummins. Nothing against the 7.3 or Dmax, you're just starting with a stouter platform that can take more punishment right out-of-the-box. But if you're looking to get up to 1,000+ hp, you're going to have to tear it apart and beef it up anyway.

yeah thats true, but everybody has a cummins. i mean the real challenge would be to get to 1000HP on a 7.3L motor. yup we'd seen cummins in the 1000HP and 1500HP, its already been done. same as the 6.6L Dmax theres been 1000HP and i think all the way to 1250HP, i havent seen 1500HP Dmax. i would totaly love to see a 1000HP 7.3L powerstroke and i know everybody in the diesel world would love to see that happen also, i mean everyone!!!

yeah i know of double overtime, but that one is not street driveable. thats custom everything and its only for competition.

like i said it would cost way too much to get a 7.3 to pump out that kind of hp.
