today i went to my nearst volkswagen dealer to see the new volkswagen jetta tdi. i mean is not that amazing from the outside, but inside is pretty decent. my first impresion was when i turned it on, u couldn't even notice that u had turned it on. you notice until u give it some gas or in this case DIESEL. i really liked it from the inside i got to see the trunk is it was pretty big for a car, a nice space back there. i also saw the engine, most of it is covered up by plastic. oh well, but its ok. So, has anyone else cought a glace at it? Let me know what u think...

Yep, I drove one the other day. I posted my impressions in the VW forum. Not bad. Personally, I'm holding out for the wagon. I heard we might get a higher-output 170 hp version eventually. Actually, a 5-door TDI GTI with the 170-horse version would be totally sweet. I'd probably buy that over a Jetta wagon!

I bought my 2009 TDI a few days ago. I turned in my paid-for 2003 BMW 325i. I loved my bimmer but I love my TDI even more. First of all I'm getting about twice the mpg and here in Vegas, diesel is $3.59 while regular is 3.25 so I'll take the double gas mileage for the extra 30c a gallon :-)

I just thought I'd share that I love my 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI after the first 1900 miles. I kept my big 1996 Dodge 4X4 w/ the Cummins for the camper and towing but REALLY enjoy the car. It carries all my tools/stuff and handles like a sports car with plenty of power for me. I'm always in the fast lane and passing trucks, which is effortless with a lot of goooo. Lets face it...it is an economy car with nice finishes and handling. I was forced to pay $2500 over MSRP but got it with the automatic, huge skylite, mats, and 100K extended warranty for $31k OTD within a week. I'll keep it for 10 years or so, like my truck The BEST of both worlds.

That's actually not all that bad a price. I spec'd one out online the other day, and the total came to over $32k! Seems like a lot for a Jetta, but I guess that's what they're going for anymore.

The $31K included tax, $2k for 8 year/100K extended warranty, automatic, sunroof, $2500 over retail add on but I do get a $1300 tax credit. I now have 5000 miles and I get about 35mpg average going 74mph through the mountain highway w/ a box on top of the rack and loaded with tools. The power is great as I can get up to 80mph over high altitude grades easily if I get on it. The trick to mpg is to keep rpm below 2000, which is 60mph.
