If you go with a goerend transmission you will never break that thing for what you're wanting to do. I don't have a goerend tranny but everything internally except the Valve Body is goerend and my valve body will be goerend soon. I have Goerend Shafts and internal clutches and I am estimated 600hp to the wheels right now and I launch it at 30lbs coming out of the whole and it handles it just fine. Also, Richard Brown from Browns Diesel is putting 1200+ to the wheels and it's holding up. So I am pretty sure you'll be fine with the goerend tranny.
It really just depends how far you wanna go. If you wanna go all out with performance and do real low 1/4 miles then go with the tranny. If not and you just wanna tow every now and then then you could do something like a Goerend Torque Converter, Valve Body, Clutches, and Input shaft. Also their service is VERY VERY good and you could talk to Dave himself thats what I did and he put together the clutches I needed for where I was going. Go to their website and get their number and call. They will be more than happy to help you
