Now Im confused? You said you installed a new map sensor, a hx40? Is that a # for a map sensor? and it did'nt fix the problem. Then you said you bought a new map sensor? and an iat sensor from dodge for less than $155 and this solved the problem? What is the iat sensor? Where is it located and could you give the dodge part #'s for the items you used to fix this. You may have solved a problem that is driving us all nuts.

i believe he said he installed a new turbo and the problem was still there so then he brought a new map sensor and iat sensor and it fixed the problem what the iat sensor is i dont have a clue but mine was just the map sensor i think he got a better deal than i did but i got mine at what my buddy said was hes cost on it and yes i saw the ticket of what he paid for it. You may be able to get it from a local parts store for less it may not be a factory dodge part but if it works and its cheaper than why not

Connermcpherson, Are the map and the iat sensors the two on the rear d/side under the intake manifold on a 2002? If so which is which? and how do they come out? It seems you must have 2" diameter arms to get to them. And I cant figure out how those dam electical connecters come off because ive been told that sometimes bad/dirty connections can cause problem also. I bought some contact cleaner and dielectric grease and trying to clean and reconnect all electrical connections just as a first step.Cant seem to figure out how the engine ecm connecter comes off either as theres not much room to look see or manuver your hands.Any help/advise is gratly appreciated.

I have found the same problem but didn't see this thred. I have a feeling that this is a vacuume problem. My 99 2500 is stock and i know it shifts fine. I did notice this happens at steady speeds and for me it seems only on long stright drives where I don't stop.On my next fill up I stoped every quarter of a tank and opened the gas cap. This seemed to fix my problem. It will need more testing though. I worte a bigger thing on it in the thred I made called "my gas pedal stops working". let me know what u think. thanks
1999 Ram 2500 pretty much stock, big plans soon though.

Yes the MAP and IAT sensors are both near the back of the Intake manifold. The Map sensor is the one towards the front of the truck. It has a gray connector with a red locking tab on the 02 trucks. The 99-00 use a different connector and the 01 uses still another connector I believe. You push the red locking tab down I believe(it may be up. It has a raised edge on one side so it will only push one way) it will only slide a little ways. Then there is a push button towards the back of the connector that you push and you can wiggle the connector out.
Map stands for Manifold Air Pressure(boost sensor basically)
IAT is Intake Air Temp sensor.
It is worth noting that these two sensors DO get dirty. And they have an impact of mileage and power so it wouldn't be a bad idea to pull them out and clean them.
Also next time you have to buy sensors go here http://hoeslidiesel.com/store/index.html they are pretty resonable.

the iat sensor is on the far back of the block on the right of the motor, the very far back. a 9/16 deep socket take that right out and a 6 inch extension. take it out, clean it, and put it back in. sorry for the confusing, been away for a while. i installed NEW Holset HX40 and the problem was still there, dead pedal. i bought a new map and iat sensor (intake air temperature sensor) and the problem, magically, went away. plus after replacing the iat sensor, im getting a better read of egts and better gas mileage. if the iat sensor is dirty, it is telling the motor that there is insufficient air to support the fuel, causing your fuel mileage to go down. if ya'll got any q's , pm me
