I'm sure by now, most of you have heard that Cerberus wants to shed itself of Chrysler, and the most persistent rumor is that GM wants to pick up the pieces, in exchange for off-loading their remaining interest in GMAC to Cerberus. What do you guys think is going to happen to Chrysler as a whole, and the Dodge brand and the Ram in particular? Here's a blog I wrote on a sister site on the subject.

i dont know but it would be a mistake to take away the cummins and just put another duramax motor in it would help dodge if they gave it the allison trans but dont see that happening since its GMs if the took the cummins out they might as well delet dodge out of the game forever dont want to ever see that happening though. My thoughts is way to many hens in the hen house dont see nothing good comings from this on either side

That was a nice blog you wrote. Hope it doesnt come to that as I am a fan of the Dodge Ram truck as a whole. Did hear a rumor though that Dodge has alrady lost the Cummins line once there existing contract is up, and that Ford has bid on it, since they cut International out, and lost Caterpillar for future larger diesels. If Dodge does lose Cummins I think they will be up a creek without a paddle. Please post any info you may have. Thanks

well i work for an auto supplier that sells to the big three along with some of the euros and asian imports, it has us scared cause of a lose in jobs. i also live in michigan where this could effect the lives over 30,000 people here alone, and thats not including people like me who work for suppliers, or at the dealerships. D.C. has already said they will not give gm any money to help them get chrysler which i think is the best thing that they have done in a long time. I FOR ONE HOPE THAT THIS DEAL DOESNT HAPPEN.

Well, supposedly GM is secretly betting on the Dems getting into power, because they're a lot more pro-bailout than the Bush administration. That's why they've held off until after the election. Personally, I'm a little conflicted on this. I'm generally "hands-off" in regard to government intervention in anything, but it would be a sad day to see the domestic auto industry collapse.

there should be some means to them just handing over millions in bail-out money which we will have to pay for like its going to help us for them to buy dodge. They should have put terms on it like not giving out millions to so called top executes for all there hard work or stupied ideas like this one it should have them put new machines in farther reseach to more gas friedly cars and trucks and of course diesels not the emmisons crap they put on just to sell there trucks for a few more yrs while people who buy them all mostly hate the trucks cause they use more fuel then ever. What are your thoughts on this crap

its gonna be a very dark day in detroit if gm gets that money and takes over chrysler, so many lives will be effected. its stupid that the excutives get payed what they do for what little they do.

even if that the little they do they get paid big bucks but when they screw up they still get paid major bucks whats the deal its like it doesnt matter they still get paid they should be at fault more than they are holded for shouldnt they get a pay cut if they do something that cost millions of dollars that way they would be more intersted in whats good for the company and workers not just their own behalf.
