we have a 1977 KW W900 with a 3406A CAT engine. It is equipped with the old brakesaver that mountes between the engine and the tranny, and uses engine oil to act as an engine retarder. It currently doesnt work, and leaks like a syve, so the question i have is:
Can the brakesaver be removed, and a spacer plate installed, or will we need to lengthen the drievshaft to do so?
Any help is greatly appreciated as i have had little success in my efforts to find answers.

I havent worked on the A models but one the E's and the C-15's it can be removed but on those you have to get a different oil pan and block off some of the piping if i remember right. and you have to make the drive shaft longer, have to get a new one, cause the linkage will be out of whack and the input shaft on the tranny will be longer and they dont make langer ones. have you thought about getting it fixed?
