How many members started your (diesel life) with a chevette diesel? I bought a new one in 1981 for a little over $6000.00 Right after delivery I was getting 42-45 MPG! After break-in 45-50 MPG.In 1982 I drove from s.e. PA.to n.w. U.S. with all supplies for 2-3 week camping trip, over the entire trip average MPG was 48! A few years before that trip, I did a motorcycle trip of USA. and got 46MPG. needless to say I felt alot more secure in the car. I really can't say anything bad about the car since I drove it for 100,000 miles and only spent money on normal wear items.I have a lot of fond memories of this car!

Them diesel Chevettes were the hot ticket back in the day! When we did the diesel Chevette article it seemed as though everyone over about 35-40 had Chevette memories. Even my Dad had one (non-diesel) that they used to drive as a company car. Said they treated it like a four-wheeler. =)
