what is required to put a 1994 7.3 turbo diesel with a auto trans out of a f350 2wd(not powerstroke) in a 1977 f250 with a 205np transfercase and a 460 engine. Will or what does it take for the trans to mate and does any one offer mounts, what is needed for the glowplugs inside and can I just use the fuel tanks of the f350

One problem you'll run into is trans tunnel on the '77...it's to small, you might have to go for a big body lift to clear everything. Years ago I ordered a carpet kit for my '84 Ford diesel and the parts guy asked me if it was gas or diesel...I thought what difference does it make and he said the the trans tunnel was way bigger on the diesel...so when I got home I compared mine to the neighbors 351 F250 and sure as shite he was right. You'll definitely need the '94 rad...glow plugs shouldn't be a problem the fuel tanks can be used...although you might have to open up the filler neck a bit. You'll probably have to make your own motor mounts. Have you thought about just putting the '77 body on the '94 frame and just swap in the front diff?...might be less work. The '94 will have a stronger rear diff and you really want a 60 up front anyway...the 44 from '77 is not going to be to happy carrying around that 1000lbs idi.

Those High Boys look sweet your swap idea sounds cool. 73-79 Ford pickup transfercases were divorce mounted (connected with a driveshaft instead of attaching the transmission and transfer case together) so you won't need a t-case to tranny adapter. I would recommend modifying the driveshaft instead of moving the tranny, t-case or engine mounts if possible?
If the tunnel is smaller a sawzall is quicker.
All your glowplug controller needs is a power wire.
Good luck and keep us updated.
As for the engine mounts. I am not sure. I know of a few Cummins swaps for the Ford. You might cut the mounts from the new ford at the frame and then graft the whole thing into the old ford.

It's not just the tunnel that you'll have to modify it's the where the firewall meets it. Remember that 7.3 is quite a bit larger than a big or small Ford.

thanks for your ideas. this is a 77.5 truck so the 205 np is mounted to the trans(I do have a divorced transfercase but would love not to use it. would cut on fuel mileage and I really want it for my truck, not my sons)the truck does have a 3" body lift and I have the whole running f350 and plan to use that rad. and even the a/c pump so I will switch to 134a. The dana 44 has had a 460 on it so it should hold up and he will get new springs(old lift is getting tired)I am building this with my son that is 16 for him to drive to school because he has to get good MPG's and look cool too. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU AND KEEP HELPING, if this turns out I have a second one (78bronco) planned for the other boy or me. After putting plates on my truck and my wifes truck, I am going old with newwer drivelines to get better Mpgs and save on insurance and taxes, two teens will break my toy project if i don't get proactive and this still will be cheaper than building a Honda civic or little compact truck that will only get 20mpgs anyway

I'm sure the 44 will hold it, but you will go through front end parts...from bearings on up...the 7.3 is alot heavier than the BB...anyway it sound like a great father/son project...check out some of the 7.3 idi factory turbo upgrades on this site.
