I have recently acquired a late 90's trooper with a large hole in the block but the rest of the truck is almost perfect and I am interested in swaping a diesel into it and need to know if there is anybody out there that has already done this and what does it take to do it

You mean the the Izusu Trooper?
You're really gonna have to go small if you want to diesel it, like maybe one of those 3 cylinder Deutz engines.
How much does the old block weigh? This will give you an idea of how much weight you can handle on the suspension.

There are many Deutz 2011 and 1011F engines installed in other vehicles. My favorite is a Jeep Wrangler with the 2011 installed. Get the version with integrated cooling and the installation is much easier.

There are Isuzu diesels sold online so why not start with that.

Or you could drop in a duramax since that was so developed by Isuzu (laughs)
