Can 68w hydraulic oil be mixed with diesel fuel for lubrication purposes.  I ask this question because we have been using ATF for our mixture.  The fuel we recieve here in Afghan country is horrible so we are looking for any suggestions help save our equipment from disaster and one of the suggestions here was to use hydraulic oil.  is this a good idea or should we stick with the ATF.

Thanks in advance.

Hydraulic oil might not be too bad, but if you could get 2 stroke, that would help for sure.

ATF can have detergents in it to help keep the transmission internals clean, so I would avoid it as it might screw up the injector pump.

I have to "ditto" on the 2 cycle oil if you can find it, or a very light weight oil used sparingly.

you could filter the used motor oil and run it with the diesel
I burn more diesel and run more miles in a week the most of you people do in a month. ctds that have been used 97 3500, 98.5 3500, 98.5 3500,01 3500, 03 3500. those that are being used 06 3500, 07 3500. and yea these trucks earn their living

ATF is formulated to add friction and to clean the inside of the trans.
hydraulic fluid has chemicals that keep seals soft and fight heat.
i would say it may gum up in the fuel combustion.
what you need is 2 cycle oil. it will burn completely and add lube to all parts.
