I know this is not the right fourm for this, but I am new to diesels. I had a 86 f-250 and loved it. But I want another one, my question is are the days of great fuel mileage gone now that they have raised the emission standards on diesels. I was thinking of getting a gas truck due to the fact the new diesels dont get great MPG. Thanks for any input.

Late model Dodge trucks ('05 through pre '07.5) will easily get high teens or roughly double what a gasser would in the same model.
Chevy's are also getting mid to high teens as are the Ford's but you have to make sure they don't have the DPF and make sure they have had proper maintenance, so you'll need to do some research. Chevy, and more so Ford, have had lots of issues with injectors.
