Im new to diesel power mag but i did see one thing in the news section that im really interested in. It's the modified '08 Ram 2500 regular cab w/ shortened wheelbase? I would like to start a projct like this and i was just thinkin how practical would this be? And how hard would it be to do it yourself or would it be real expensive to get a shop to do it? I was thinkin of maybe an '06 or '07 with the 5.9 instead of an '08 with the 6.7. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions on this? Has anyone ever shortened a wheelbase and would it make much difference? Anyways im not real serious on the project yet just had some thoughts.. What do yall think? If anybody has some info on this i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Sure it's possible, if you have enough time & money. The beauty with trucks, is because they have separate body & frames, it's relatively easier to do stretches/chops than with unibody vehicles. For sure you'd need a new driveshaft, new brake lines, and a regular cab, and a short bed. If the shop has a chassis jig, or is experienced in doing frame fabrication, it seems to me it would be very doable. I'm thinking you might be able to do the conversion for about $15,000. Not including the price of the starter truck itself, naturally. Anyone else done anything like this?
