I have a Ford 6.0. It is in the shop with a blown head gasket. This is the fourth time it has been in there. There is plenty of evidence that Ford has a major problem with this engine. I'm done. It will be traded when it gets out. Don't care for the Dodge looks.
I havent heard of problems on the new Duramax. Don't care about towing 20,000 pounds. Is GM having problems with the Duramax??

The D-Max has injector problems. If you don't care about towing then the GM might be the right truck for you...great ride, every bell and whistle you can think of in the cab and the pre '07 get good MPG. You could also look at an older 7.3 Ford or the new 6.4...you were just unfortunate to buy the 6.0...junk!

The LB7 had quite a few issues, but most of them were hammered out with the LLY, and the LBZ and LMM have been pretty solid, from what I've heard. Unfortunately, ALL '08 or newer diesels have the DPFs and other emissions crap on them. There's no way to avoid that.

Just get the heads studded and your 6.0 won't be blowing the head gasket !!!!

i cant believe some people are allowed to actually post stuff on here. I mean, do you not read the articles posted in this magazine??? The only good engine ford has used so far as been the 7.3. The 6.0 was discontinued!!!! because it had problem out the ***. The 6.4 is just an in between motor that will be used until the "scorpion" comes out. PLUS how do fords do in the diesel power challenges??? Why dont you ford guys refresh my memory. haha, nuff said!

Cummins has been around the longest and even tho i am a duramax guy I can still recognize one key thing: longevity/staying power says a lot. You wont find me Fixing Or Repairing Daily and I definitely wont be Found On Road Dead. Like I said, Im a duramax guy, but if i had the choice between a ford and a cummins I would definitely take the cummins.

That brings up another point. Why does everyone say that the best combo is a ford platfrom with a cummins motor??
Is an allison not the best tranny offered??
Arent AMM axles stronger than sterlings?? (AMM 11.5 are used by GM and DODGE and the AMM 9.25 found up front for dodges is a GM axle)
I dont know which Transfer case is the best, but what is so good about the ford platfrom??? Is it the frame or something??

I said, "lady, would you sell one of your kids? Or spouse?"

Then i let her know that if she was on board then she would drive a VW jette TDI on biodiesel and not a POS under powered prius!

never thought the ford was that good ever. never had one that could haul more weight then gm or dodge. the only reaso i ever bought a ford was because of their early diesels. once better diesels where out i dumped the blue oval

there really is no need for the childish name calling put downs people. whether or not any of you want to realize it, each of the 3/4 and 1 ton pickup lines are all comparable. each has their own set of problems: fords get hot and pop heads, chevys drop injectors and lack any passenger room and a dodge is, well, its a dodge, no helping there. The 6.0 engine is a solid platform, but infortunately they do take some massaging to get the reliability out of them

ok for starters...the 6.0L does not come with twin turbos. the new 6.4L does. the 7.3L is far better than the 6.0L. the older dodge cummins are way better than the new ones. if you take care of it any truck will last a long time. you just have to treat it right. ford is the best selling truck on the market right now, so whats that tell ya?

"and a dodge is, well, its a dodge, no helping there."I just love comments like that. I know way more Dodge owners than anything else (and we all left our Chev's and Fords for them) and I don't know of ANY problems. Some of you guys are stuck in 1970's. As far as the old Cummins are way better than the new ones...well I like the 12valves but I'll take an 2006 over it any day of the week.
