I have a 2006 F-350 powerstroke. I have the new superchips flashpaq, airaid cold air intake, and mbrp cool duals with the power tube. My question is how do I get rid of or help fix the horrible turbo lag? Wright at the hit of the throttle it takes in what seems like for ever to build any kind of boost. I have a friend with a 2003 Excursion with the powerstroke and he kicks my butt of the line but when I start to make power I start to pull away from him. Did they change turbos on the 2006? Not to mention his sounds better than mine you can actually hear his turbo. If you can help me with these questions that would help.

Read the September edition of diesel power where they talk about properly sizing a turbo for your truck. Since you are experiencing turbo lag the only way to get rid of will be sizing a new turbo with the help of the current issue (read september) about how to properly size a turbo. Cause unfortunately either you will have to change out your turbo or just live with the turbo lag that it creates.

all the 03's have the loud turbo whistle thorugh the exhaust, none of the others have that, which is very dissapointing cuz its beautiful! but about the turbo lag the only way to fix it is to upgrade if u can...usualy the right intake will help the lag but other than that, theres not much...

I just bought a new F250 PS, had it lifted at a local shop with the fabtech 6" radius arm lift kit and then installed the dual shock steering stabilizer and have had nothing but problems with steering and a horrible ride. I thought about buying better shocks, but shouldent it ride pretty good already?

cat 325: I'm assuming you're truck has a 6 litre, somebody correct me if I'm wrong but those engines' turbos' have variable vane turbine wheels, a steep pitch at low speeds to give you quick spool-up, and less pitch at higher speeds, to lower the turbine drive pressure in the exhaust manifold, thus lowering EGT's. what I'm getting at is with all of the added power, the resulting smoke/soot has built up on the turbine wheel, and the vanes could be stuck, wich could be the cause of the turbo lag you're complaining of, something you might want to look into.

My edge Juice with Attitude has fixed my problem of turbo lag. It allows you set low boost fueling which has virtually eliminated turbo lag.

I have an 2005 F250, and I was having the same problem. One of the o-rings had gone bad in the turbo and oil and soot had built up on the vanes and had gummed everything up. A rebuild of the turbo fixed the problem and also gave a boost to my MPG. This truck was purchased used and I think the o-ring was already bad when I bought it. Anyway a few performance upgrades along with the turbo rebuild resulted in a very strong truck with 24-22MPG highway and 20-18MPG city, this of course depends on how much throttle I am using.

low boost could be cause by a sticking turbo, bad ebp sencer, bad icp sencer, sticking egr valve. most turbos that stick are not sooted up but rusted inside. they can be cleaned and lubed. the turbo relise a lot on the ebp sencer and if you install a big exhaust it lowers exhaust back pressure. so the turbo has to spool up and make back pressure before the turbo starts to adjust

if i owned a 6.0 id remove the egr, egr cooler, loop the lines and install a fixed turbo...and get a programm to create emnesia in the ecu this will solve 90% of your guys's 6.0 probs then all you have to worry about is injecters...lol

I bought a used F250 King Ranch with the 6.0 liter PSD 6 months ago and I blew a head gasket on a trip home for Christmas. It has only 84K miles on it. It is not chipped currently. Since I have owned the truck I have not used it for anything major at all and drive it very carefully since I am financially strapped at the time and can't afford any repairs. It looks like Ford may warranty the repairs but I can’t be sure since I don’t know if it had been chipped before in the past. Supposedly the computer will tattle tale if there has ever been a chip used in the truck. I bought this truck without doing any research, but since I have blown a head gasket I am finding out all sorts of bad news about this engine. You don’t have to search hard on the internet to find out that this engine is JUNK!!! It really bums me out because I love the cab and the looks of the ford, and the diesels are nice because of the power. I hope Ford can get their act together, but to be honest I am not going to buy another diesel Ford truck till they get a GOOD track record with a new motor. I am not convinced the 6.4 is that motor yet. If Ford got a good reliable diesel motor that would last at least 400K miles without many issues then they would sweep the market. I however am not a fan of the looks of the grill on the new 08’ Super Duties. I am currently planning on putting in a Cummins into my ford with an Allison transmission or buying a Dodge even though I don’t like the cab on the Dodges. If Dodge made a better quality cab, didn’t make the grill and front end look like a cars, strengthened up their steering and tightened up the front end then I am convinced they would pull ahead of Ford in sales. I have not heard any bad things about the Cummins, so they are not challenged in the engine department. I have talked to so many people that would buy a Dodge if it weren't for the "ugliness" of the outside design.
And please, when you put up a post don’t brag about your 6.0 PSD and say it is the best thing ever. It has an infamous track record that is undisputable. I own one, I know!

ford did have a good reiable motor that would go 400,000miles, it was called the 7.3L. i dont know why they brought out the 6.0 . it really killed them.
its like wipeing your ass with a hula hoop, its endless

Getting over turbo lag is as SIMPLE as; two foot it up to about 7 psi, then STAND ON IT!! New turbos, new EGRs, blah, blah, blah. Watch Buick GN drag racing, they spin the poop out of their turbos before they run. If two-footing doesn't work, have the dealership check the ECM program, mine needed it.
Oh yeah, MY 6.0 SCREAMS!! IT'S THE BEST $30K I EVER SPENT!!
