dont think any of the newer trucks with the emission stuff on them get that kinda of mileage i get about 10 dragging my 8k trailer and 9k skidsteer around its a 4x4drw
I burn more diesel and run more miles in a week the most of you people do in a month. ctds that have been used 97 3500, 98.5 3500, 98.5 3500,01 3500, 03 3500. those that are being used 06 3500, 07 3500. and yea these trucks earn their living

Late model 2006 or early 2007 Dodge with the 5.9 (Pre-2007.5 as the switch to the 6.7 is '07.5) will get you around 20 MPG unloaded.

I would say go with the dodge 5.9.  If you do a few up grades you will hit 17 to 20 easy.

Upgrades to do would be exhaust intake and a economical programmer if you wanna keep good fuel economy.

Ok so i have it narrowed down to 2 truck i found in my area a 2003 dodge 2500 with a 4.5 lift, intake exhaust, exhaust brake,118 000 kms, quad cab short bed or 2006 ford f350 crew cab short bed lariat completly stock. the dodge is selling for 26 500 and the ford 30199 which of these would be best for haul a bobcat and skidoos around?

I personally would go with the newer Ford and try to talk him down a bit as you would probably still have warranty on it unless it has a stupid amount of km's. Also there is not much difference in price and I would prefer to upgrade my truck from stock not buy one that some one else has upgraded and possibly thrashed. Also I am not sure but if you are hauling a bobcat the lift isn't the best thing for it (I am not sure if this is true just what a buddy told me) just my two cents. How many km on the ford by the way?

Good luck

I would agree a modified truck could have many problems down the road i would go with the stock one  my stock F350 does a great job towing and daily driving
