I've got an 84 Ford F-250 that used to have the 6.9l in it until i ran into problems. I have been thinking about converting to a cummins but i dont know where to start. Where can i find the conversion kit? I have been looking around and found a cummins out of a 95. Will that be any more complicated than putting in an older one? I know that i would need a conversion plate, but what else would i need? Would i be able to use my old alternator, starter, etc.. Thanks

I did a 98' 12v swap into my 95 F-350 a little while back, still drive the pickup everywhere. You can get a conversion kit from ford cummins. Destroked may have one available for that year and model now but I'm not sure. I didn't have very good luck with some of the stuff I got from ford cummins, I had to modify motor mounts so that they would actually hold the engine without bending. Installed three sets before I gave up and modified them and haven't had any problems since. Their tach kit sucks, get that from destroked. As for the alternator you can reuse the ford one. I chose to use the dodge alternator and just took it to an alternator shop and had them modify it so it was internally regulated. Don't get the kit from ford cummins for the alternator that also was a waste of money for me because both boards I got from them were bad prior to installation (had the shop test them). You will need to get a dodge starter and depending on the transmission you have may have to do some grinding on the bell housing so that the starter nose cone will clear. If the pickup has A/C you can either use the kit from for cummins to locate the ford compressor. I don't know how well it works personally but haven't heard anything good about the bracket. I chose to have custom hoses made and keep the dodge compressor and stock mounting location for that compressor. It was extremely tight but it fits and works. If you can get the engine from that 95' I hope you already bought it!!!!!!!! Theres lots more to tell if you have more questions. PM me
95' F-350 with a 98' Cummins 12V in it, Fuel Plate, Injectors, 3k Governer Kit, South Bend Clutch, Custom AFE intake, 4" custom exhaust and i really need to add more so I have more to list!!!!
