There was a small batch of non-turbo 6.5L engines, but their compression ratio was lowered to around 19 to 1. IMO that's still too high for adding a turbo.

Your Chilton's book is correct within a point. Same stroke, same deck height, same wristpin location, same rods, same cylinder head configuration. One of the most popular engine rebuilds I do is to bore a 6.2 .080 and use low mileage 6.5 td standard pistons which makes the 6.2 into a 6.5 natural. Using the 6.2 injection pump, upping the injectors from 1500 psi to 1750 and advancing the timing 2 to 4 degrees will give you a most impressive 6.2 with increased hp and mpg.
