to all,
has Diesel Power magazine ever done or thought of doing an article/series on Mercedes diesel CARS???
we folks that drive "the little turbo diesels" are "dieselheads", TOO. (in case you didn't know it, MB diesel "NUTS" are nearly a cult.)
in my case, i have 2 MB diesels (an '84 300D & an '85 300SD - i'm looking for a rust-free 1985 300TD Safari right now.) & the family must have at least 6-8 of them at any given time = my brother buys/swaps cars like most people change socks!!! (i THINK that Richard has FOUR right now, but it easily could be 5 or 3.)
fwiw, i started reading the magazine because i was looking for a 12V Dodge for a "daily driver/hauler". - NICE magazine.
yours, PG

IMHO, I think the mag could really do with more diesel info from across both ponds (Europe and Japan). The better we educate the masses on how a Passat gets 40 plus MPG on clean diesel/bio-diesel the better the chance to change the perception on diesel.

Prestige, I've been a big advocate of more coverage of diesel cars in DP for quite a while. The fact of the matter is, there haven't been many diesel cars out there to cover, at least for the U.S. market. I assure you that as more diesel cars become available in the U.S. market, our coverage will increase accordingly.

esanchez,
may i suggest a "PROJECT MERCEDES SEDAN" for DieselPowerMag??? (i suspect every "MB diesel-nut" would then subscribe. - as i said, we are nearly a "cult". i travel a lot of the USA for the various family enterprises & i'm eternally surprised about the number of "new friends" that stop me, each week, to talk/ask questions about "Mercedes diesel".)

There are a lot of them driving around Los Angeles. I want to get one. I think it would be great for the magazine.

Jason,
fyi, i was out on the interstate yesterday in NC & a navy colored (and dead stock-looking) 300SD (i think an '84) went by me like i was standing still (i was running about 70-75MPH) & "disappeared like a puff of smoke" over the next rise & out of sight more quickly than i can say. (i'm guessing somewhere in the 100-120MPH range.)
one wonders WHAT THE H he had done to that 617???
like i said, you folks REALLY need to do an article/series/project on the M-B turbo diesels!!!
