Oil leak out the blow by tube

Many dodge owners experience oil leaks out the blow by tube. My truck is an 05 with 98000 plus miles and it never leaked out the tube until about 3000 miles ago. It leaks a 1 inch drop on the driveway each day. Then it leaks quite a bit while driving on the freeway. So much so that the underside of the truck gets oily. Maybe a half a quart each week with mostly freeway driving. I want to know why. I've heard such things as too much engine pressure caused by the fuel system or piston ring wear caused by high miles and improper maintenance of the air filter.

I tool my truck in the local dodge dealer(150 miles away) and since the Chrysler bankruptcy, they've have been slammed with service due to the closure of so many other dealerships. There are only two dealers in the Las Vegas area now. Anyway, they kept my truck for 3 weeks, changed the oil, changed a pcv filter, some other non-essential items and $800 later the truck still leaks. I have a K&N air filter and the tech on the phone told me too much dust has been sucked into the engine pbrt over time because I haven't oiled the filter enough. I think its bull but I don't want to take it down to Vegas for another month. I'm considering taking it up to Salt Lake City now to the dealer up there but I don't know if I'm wasting my time.

So, if there is anyone out there that has dealt with this before and fixed it, please let me know. When I say fix it, I mean stopped the leaking by some kind of repair other than extending the blow by tube down to the ground.

The mods on my truck are simple. KN air filter, front end leveling kit, 35 in BFG mud terrains, and a triple dog downloader which has been returned to stock for 2 months now. With the bigger tires the engine rpm at 75 mph is about 2000.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance if you have any input.

The cylinder walls were dusted and the rings were worn. Replace the piston and rings as well as honed the cylinders. No more oil out the blow by tube.

drop the k&n filter and get a better one, cummins has not liked the k&n since they have been out for the motors
I burn more diesel and run more miles in a week the most of you people do in a month. ctds that have been used 97 3500, 98.5 3500, 98.5 3500,01 3500, 03 3500. those that are being used 06 3500, 07 3500. and yea these trucks earn their living

While replacing the radiator and fan,  K&N came off too. Haven't bought anything yet but plan to.

Good choices for an air filter are AfE, AEM Brute Force, and S&B.

Glad you lost the K&N .... those things are great for a gasser, but trash for a diesel.

Looks like a local shop carries the S&B. I'll pick one up Monday.

Install should take about an hour.  Post back and let us know how you like it.
