Transmission swap 76 SEL450 to a 83 300CD is it possible?

Does anyone know if the tranny from a 76 450SEL is the same as the tranny in a 83 300CD? I have a nice donor 450SEL with only 40K on it but I'm not sure they're interchangable.

I'm not sure either. I want to say that year 450 is a 3-speed transmission and the 300 CD is a 4-speed. There are a few Mercedes guys on here that know what they're talking about. Hopefully one of them will read this and have some insight for you.
