Newbie all round...

I have recently purchased a '86 F250 3/4ton 4x4 with the 6.9. Best I can tell from the original owner it has 168,000 miles on it. I am having a problem with it losing prime after sitting for more than 2 or 3 days. The only diesel I have had in the past is an '83 Isuzu pup 4x4, which was my first truck.
the truck is beat to hell but since I work at a scrap yard I am trying to rebuild her "a piece at a time."
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel line from the tank to the pump. Look for leaks if you can, or find the line and simply replace it.
