My 04 6.0 Superduty has started to make high volumes of white smoke with no apparent loss of power... With all I have read in various blogs and forums, I suspect the problem to be the EGR cooler, which seems to be a common problem. My engine is stock, and was rebuilt at 40K by the dealer due to head gaskets issues. My questions are two-fold; 1. Has anybody had any luck with getting Ford to replace this out of the warranty period, based upon the known and obvious problems with these units, and 2.)is this something that the average/above average guy can replace at home and by himself? Given the way this engine is crammed into the space, I am not even sure where the egr cooler is! - Any help is appreciated! - Rick
