I am new here, and just getting started on working on diesels. I just replaced the O-rings on the plunger side of the injection pump. I took them out 1 at a time. Could this possibly change the timing of the pump? It runs now at WOT, when I start it. It is blowing a lot of black smoke with it. I had to disconnect the fuel line to get it to shut down. Thought it was gonna blow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It may not change the timing, but you can get the plungers to stick in WOT. You may have to pull the pump and take it in to get calibrated.
