I have a 12v Cummins out of a wrecked 1996 2500. I was thinking of dropping that motor into an '80's Chevy Blazer. I have always loved the old Blazers and think that it would be a fun and not too difficult of a swap to do. DOes anyone have any suggestions or know of anywhere to find information on a swap like this. I was thinking of using an NV4500 for a trans but haven't decided on the transfer case. Any comments or suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That would make a cool swap. My only concern would be the weight over the front axle, and the Blazer's relatively short wheelbase. I wonder how that would affect off-road stability. Might not be an issue, but just something I thought about. Then again, I've seen CJs with Power Strokes, so it'd probably be fine.

Yeah that short wheelbase would be an issue.  Can you do some rough measurements and see if it will really fit first?

mite be better to go with the cummins 4bt motor
I burn more diesel and run more miles in a week the most of you people do in a month. ctds that have been used 97 3500, 98.5 3500, 98.5 3500,01 3500, 03 3500. those that are being used 06 3500, 07 3500. and yea these trucks earn their living

Yeah, a 4BT would probably be a better fit, packaging and weight-wise. You can still get quite a bit of power out of them, too.

The only deal with putting a 12 valve in a chevy is the firewall.  You have to cut the firewall out and move it back a few inches, I don't know exactilly how much.  And on the transfer case a simple gear to gear will do it.  But i would use a divorsed case like the old Internationals used.  That way if you turn your hummin cummins up and shell either the tranny or the transfer case you can pull one without the other faster.  And don't worry about the weight over the front axels.  The K-5s came out with 454s and 6.2 diesels in them.  A cummins isn't that much heavier.

Oh, and you have to make some mounts too.

Yeah thanks! My father owns a machine shop and i can use his cnc machines if need be for the motor mounts. I've seen photos of this swap but no one will quite say much about the firewall. I would like to make this comfortable enough for a baily driver, any ideas of anything extra i'm missing? Main reason i'm going with the 12v is because we have already rebuilt it and we have had a few Dodges with them in it.
