The usual suspects all make air intakes for the 6.7L: AFE, Volant, Airaid (around $300), S&B filters ($269), K&N. I just found out today that Superchips has a tuner it claims adds 115 hp to the 6.7L too (Flashpaq tuner). Happy Hunting.

Mike thanks.
Are all the intakes pretty much the same? Do all aftermarket products act the same "personal preference" or is there an overall better company.

On air intakes, opinions vary. Some say, much like an exhaust system, an air intake is an air intake is an air intake. Others are brand loyal to the core. Then, some go with the best deal they can find.
Personally, I haven't conducted any testing for an aftermarket air intake on a 6.7L (yet), but what I can tell you is that as far as companies go, I spent a considerable amount of time in S&B Filters facility, and it is state-of-the-art. And, their reason for having one of the most affordable 6.7L intake systems on the market is due to them making everything "in-house," which most companies do not do.
I recommended the Superchip because they've proven to offer decent power gains "without hurting anything." While they may not offer the biggest gains, they are reliable, help fuel economy, don't smoke, and are very affordable ($379 I believe).

thanks Mike I'd like to check in with you again. If there's anyone else reading this I'd appreciate your opinion as well.

I, too, am looking for what else is out there for my '08. I've been looking for something like the AEM intake but with the aluminium intake tube versus the plastic.
We should definately try to keep this thread active since I won't be able to do anything until late May or early June since I'm overseas and won't be back home until then.

Marine Good to hear from you again. I just swung a deal at my local acc. dealer. I bought the K&N assembly for $310 canadian. Part # 631557. I'll have mpg results in a couple of wks. Remind me and I'll let you know.

Thanks, I'd love to find out what you're getting for mileage so I can do some comparison. My wife let me know that it does get pretty good mileage but she doesn't drive it much since the garbage Michellin tires on it don't like snow and wet roads.
I think the mod bug has bitten her though .... she's put in a request for Road Armor bumpers (front and rear) for both the '06 and the '08. She said something about elk crossing the highway in huge packs and not wanting to repair either truck.

Go with a aFe intake with the dry filter. The 2 best programmers are the Edge and PMT. You may also think about looking at DPF/EGR deletes.
2007.5 6.7 TWIN TURBO and then some............

Cowboy
The only thing with the dpf deletion packs is that it voids warranty here in Canada and I'm unsure of in the U.S. Is there only 1 edge and PMT or are there more than 1 model?

Well my truck has less than 800 miles on it, so I don't see doing the DPF delete anytime soon. I'm going to see how it runs when I get home and go from there. I know I will be swapping out the stock air filter with a replacement intake system when they make one I want but then again I've got all the time in the world, too.

Good to know .... I'll be back in the States in late June so I can be home for the 4th of July, and I plan on running it everywhere. I'll post up my numbers, both from the computer and hand calc.

Marine IT seems that anything over 60mph every 6-7mph you lose 1-2mpg. THat was my 1st trip though. At 60 I was getting around 20 or so but at 70 i was getting high 16mpg almost 17

well i see chris aka compcowboy has already chimed in, he is the MAN when it comes to the 6.7, he's already done DPF delete, egr delete, exhaust, intake, dual cp3 injection pumps, twin turbo's, PMT stacked with the MP8 and i was present when he layed down a healthy 691 horse power on the dyno. he's crazy smart when it comes to these trucks that very few people have modified that heavily. i too would suggest the edge. mostly because it has all the gauges you need built into the display, it is adjustable on the fly, and has many different de fueling points to save your truck from your right foot. it will also clear all codes if you ever do decide to do a DPF delete
