I own a 1995 dodge ram 3500 with a V10 in it. I need to know if i can put a 12 valve cummins diesel engine in it's place and make it work. Will it bolt up to the transmission bell housing? Will it work with that transmission? Will it work at all?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my V10 is slowly dying on me at 215k miles.  I have a hook up possibly on a 12 valve cummins diesel engine.

C'mon man anything is possible.  I put a cummins in my Ford and bolted it to the ford tranny........  Just depends on how much you wanna spend.  You may need to change the core support and I imagine the radiator will need to be changed as well.  Fuel lines and possibly pumps too (we installed a 12 valve in a ford gasser pickup and had to install lines from a wrecked diesel pickup dont remember exactly why though).  Other than that I think it should be pretty straight forward.

This seems like it would be one of the more straightforward swaps, since both engines were offered in that bodystyle. I don't know the specifics of the drivetrain details. The only thing for sure you'll have to change are the engine mounts.

Be careful with ford cummins.  Some of their products are kinda sketchy and they have a hard time standing behind some of their products.  I would stay away from their motor mounts.  They are made from mild steel and no where near thick enough( I bent three before making my own and know of three other people that had the same problem).

it will work no problem but if i were you id beef up your front suspension a bit because that cummins motor is really heavy puts some more leafs in would be the best i had to put an extra leaf in on my 1992 cummins because the front end started to sag from the weight of the engine.

the cummins will work on the trans but you will have to change the torque convertor, due to the gas engine having a higher rpm than the diesel. all the internals are the same as a trans that would normally come mounted on a diesel
